Ahhh so refreshing playing an older Bioware before that team/company was ruined by EA. While the pathing of the old Infinity engine might leave a bit to be desired, this (and other early Bioware titles) is as close to playing a D&D campaign without actually playing tabletop D&D. Fantastic old game and still better than over 90% of the RPGs made in the last 5 years or so. A credit to the old Black Isles team at Interplay.
Once you know what to do the game can take less than 4 hours to play through, and it has some issues such as fiddly pathing which can make some puzzles frustrating for no good reason. However, the game is innovative in that it is an early example of a game that has NPCs that walk about the town going about their business, something that would become a staple in later RPGs but was very rare in games of this age. Nice artwork for its time, too.
Made with a similar structure to older RPGs along the lines of the original Dragon Age, Greedfall delivers a compelling narrative in an original (and unique) setting on a world map that is both well-designed and beautiful. The musical score serves to enhance the game's atmosphere and the writing (both plot and dialogue) helps to submerge the player into the game's atmosphere. Highly recommended if you enjoy solid RPGs.
