Very good blend of strategy and RPG mechanics that you rarely see today, and I feel Spellfoce 2 and 3 went too far trying to be Starcraft instead of doing what it did best in Spellfoce 1 which was slowpaced RPG with fun RTS elements that allowed for large battles. Despite dated graphics and gameplay this game still holds the ability to immerse you in it's world.

Haegemonia does a few things good but has severe limitations. Here is my pro and con list. Pros - Good storyline, immersive and interesting. Fully voiced dialogues. - Beautiful graphics with the best explosions ever seen in a space rts game. - One of the best award winning sountracks. It really gets the blood pumping. - Lots of research for your favorite type of weapons - Fun Multiplayer with random events such as "astaroid apocalypse", "evil space monsters", "hostile alien ground encounters" Cons - No espionage and very very limited diplomacy - Poor economic system and planet customization - Predictable rock-paper-scissor combat The biggest problem with this game is however the extremely low unit cap. It will limit the fun both multiplayer and singelplayer. It makes you feel like your playing a demo, but if you like modding you can edit the limitations.
