A cute story, about love, loss, grief, and hope. Enveloped in another story of love, loss, grief, and hope. Cutely drawn, easy to play (most of the time, controlling the hero girl with the keyboard is sometimes a bit clumsy), and full of nice surprises. In short: I love this game, and I hope the programmer will produce more such gems. Wonderful little game not only for kids but also for grown-ups.
From a graphical point of view HoMM 5 and 6 of course are far better and advanced, but HoMM 3 was a game changer; the fractions are roughly equally strong (a HUGE advantage over HoMM 1 and 2), the stories are still worth playing and reading. I love that whole series even though I haven't played part 7 yet. Thanks and kudos to GoG for keeping and maintaining this gem of a game!
This was my very first attempt at a "visual novel". This demo was definitely worth trying. The graphics are wonderful, the explanations are clear and concise, the game handling (menu, mouse movement, and so on) is good and easy to use even for me bloody newbie, the story is thrilling and well implemented. The logic of actions and consequences is compelling. Just sad that this is not my kind of game. If this were a pure fantasy setting (like in The Witcher), I would love it. My interest in history is stilled by books, movies, History Channel, or similar media, not by games in historic settings. This is something personal: my - not really big - knowledge of actual history is keeping me from making choices on my own, I too often found myself pondering my choices against actual history. Whoever is in for something unusual and doesn't mind history settings: please give this a try.
