Adorable

Unique Beautiful Adorable Touching And sometimes even challenging as a game. I highly recommend it. Being a classic point & click fan genre Broken Sword, at first I was hesitant to buy, then I was hesitant to download, and then I was hesitant to play. What could this rather abstract clickamajig possibly have to offer? It turns out: a lot of fun, in a very relaxing and soothing way. A beautiful story in a wonderful world where everything is possible and extraordinary.

Volgarr the Viking

A very good and rewarding platformer

This game is proof of the value of the phrase: practice makes perfect. The controls are very basic: walk, jump, double jump, sword attack, throw a spear, climb. That's it. Those are allt he tools you need to beat this game. Apart from one thing: perseverance. I didn't get that far in the game yet, but I persevere. And this actually makes it sound to negative, because it's a whole lot of fun to do so. The graphics are very nice, the sound effects as well as the graphics of kills and power-ups very gratifying. When you die, you simply try again, yes, back from the start or the latest checkpoint, but every retry is a further step into perfecting your runthrough. This game is not very forgiving, and allows everyone to play it to maste rit to such ane xtent as to allow near-perfect playthroughs. I haven't achieved it yet but I'm planning to, having fun along the way. It's a bit like learning a song on the paino, timing the pushing of buttons just right. Only it's easier and at least as much fun (and alsmost as gratifying).

Dark Fall: The Journal

Great game but too scary

Great atmosphere, start of the story and graphics, but I'm simply too scared to continue it. I guess if you love the genre this is for you. For me it was a try-out of the genre and I can't say I enjoyed it, even something silly liike opening my fridge became a problem right after playing this. The only reason why I didn't uninstall it is because I'm afraid of the spritis who will haunt me if I do so. I gave minus one star not because I don't like the genre, but because I did think the voice acting (the brother on the phone and Timothy Pike) were quite bad.

Alone in the Dark: The Trilogy 1+2+3

Classic that didn't age well

I had never played this game back when it came out or clsoe after, only heared about it. "Alone in the Dark" was one of those titles that always had this mysterious air around them for me, never fully knowing what it was about, but realizing it would scare the beejebus out of me. Now, all these years later, I decided to clear away the mists surrounding this title, buy this game and start playing. I can see why it made an impact on players back in the day. Eerie atmosphere, great story-telling, but... today very little of that lingers. The story still stands of course, but you need some kind of immersion, definitely in a story that's supposed to scare you. Here the bad graphics are a game-breaker. I know the game was made in another day and age, it's part of GOG-experience to not mind graphics too much, but in this case it's off-putting. Your own characters pixelated face looks scarier than the monsters he faces. Gameplay wise the controls are easy enough to get used to, but the "spinnig 360 degrees and then moving"-thing does make thie thing more bothersome than it could be. I'm glad I gave it a try, I'm sorry I didn't do it much earlier. This game is good for those who played it before on a nostalgia-trip, and for videogame archeologists. But don't expect an immersing game if you're new to it.

To The Moon

This isn't a game

The story is ok (not as tear-inducing as the first reviews would lead you to believe), there's some ok humour in it in the form of Dr. Watts, the music is very nice, and the artwork in general is pleasing enough. All in all very mediocre, and the biggest gripe: it's not a game. There's maybe ten or so "puzzles" where you have to flip tiles, but they're too easy to be considered real games. Same for a smack-the-moles-minigame. And that's it. All the other stuff is clicking through conversations and clicking on objects. There's no interactions with objects, no real ones to speak of. I would not call this a game. I'd give it only 1 star but I do appreciate some elements for it enough in order not to be too harsh. It did manage to soft me up a bit I guess. Finalv erdict: mediocre movie that makes you click through it constantly, but with a nice general atmosphere.

Fist Puncher

Good Beat Em Up

This is a great beat 'em up. Sound effects are briljant, so is the soundtrack. The basic fighting mechanic is just the same like in the good old days. Don't know what more you can expect from a game in this genre, so if you like the genre, buy it and relvie the Double Dragon days. Perks and cards and object collection are little extras that don't interest me,b ut may give extra motivation for others. The only gripe I have with the game are the unskippable cutscenes from the beginning, the appalling voice acting and the fact it takes you around two minutes in order to be able to quit the game to desktop.

Broken Sword: Director's Cut

My first adventure game, my first love

Broken Sword is the game that introduced me to the point and click adventure genre. Beautiful music, beautiful artwork, great story, great voice acting, the atmosphere is just unbeatable. This game defines nostalgia for me, seeing that white hand pointing me in certain directions and picking things up just makes me feel like I'm back in the ninetees. Buy it, if not for nostalgia, for haviong the best adventure games have to offer in your hands. PS: Am I the only one who think it's silly to have a huge spoiler already on the new cover of the game?
