Great game

This atmosphere of the level design is really great in this game. That mummy level still spooks me.

Prime Bioware

Great gameplay, great art direction, but not my favorite story from bioware's golden age. Still a great game, worth playing more than once.

Crysis®

Good Gameplay, Bad Story

This game really does a good job of making you feel like some futuristic navy seal. The combat suit is very creatively designed and fun to use. The guns also pack a punch in this game and the enemies react to being hit in a way that is pretty satisfying. If they had stayed in the direction of making an imaginative futuristic stealth game, and focused on making fun creative stealth missions in the same vein as Chaos Theory or Hitman Blood Money, this franchise would have been way better. Instead they chose to make it a more linear action game like the halo franchise. Which made you think the company didnt really understand what made crysis 1 unique and interesting. You dont feel like a navy seal in the games after this one, you just feel like some bland master chief-esque character, but with less creative level and enemy design than that of the halo franchise. Overall this is a decent game with some really good gameplay ideas, the only problem with this one is the story goes in a horrible direction.

Horizon Zero Dawn™ Complete Edition

Horrifically overrated piece of ****

Back in the 90s/2000s games like this would have been called out for exactly what they are, a highly polished turd with absolutely nothing special gameplay and story wise, but here in 2021 there is now an audience that loves insanely mundane open world games like this simply because it does a good job distracting them from whatever painful lives they are living, and not because it is a genuinely thrilling 5 out 5 experience. Here is a few of the worst aspects of this game 1) The characters are just some of the worst the video game industry has ever seen. Seriously the level of emptiness and passionlessness that exudes from these characters is something that I wouldnt wish my worst enemy to experience. It very quickly becomes painful to look at and learn about the characters in this world because they all have the same intensely generic and lifeless design, to the point that it feels like they literally just copy and pasted the characters over and over again, only changing the shape of a tattoo on their head in order to proclaim it is a unique character. Their voices and personality all feel heavily recycled as well. And while the main character has slightly more detail than the rest, she is not interesting in the slightest, and you will quickly forget her name as well as her place in this horrible game. 2) The art and world design is as bland and monotonous as the characters, every place feels the same and has no creativity or charm to it. Instead of detailed graphics they need to focus on making the game artistically interesting. 3) The gameplay is also terrible, especially the stealth gameplay vs humans, which is as generic as can be. The behavior of some of the enemies isnt horrible, such as some of the robotic enemies charging at you, but artistically these enemies are not interesting, they are really boring to look at and you wont care what or who they are or where they came from. I'd like to go on and in more detail but I'm running out of characters here

Divinity: Original Sin 2 - Eternal Edition

Who is giving this game positive reviews

Here is what is so bad about this title 1) The characters are absolutely horrible, yes you get a lot of different classes with unique features to each class, but who the characters are, what their place is in the world, how their personalities are written, are just the epitome of bland and uninteresting to the point of becoming painful to learn anything more about these creations. Anyone who says that any of the characters in this game are memorable has either never played a genuinely interesting rpg before or is just trying to decieve themself into believing the money they paid for this game was worth it. 2) The world building in this game is even worse than the characters, yes there are lots of places to go and see, but every place you go has no creativity or charm to it, it feels bland and passionless and if you care about your time in the real world you will absolutely not want to waste any of it exploring the awful levels and environments in this game. 3) Yes the graphics are highly detailed but the art design, which is more important and is what makes a game genuinely interesting, is not just horrible but abysmal. It is extremely tacky and feels like it was inspired by shitty mobile games rather than games made for the pc. There are many more problems with this game but these are a few of the biggest. This is just a really bad game, anyone who is a genuine fan of crpgs from the 90s/2000s will not want to play this. The gameplay seems to be what people praise the most about this title, which isnt terrible to be fair, but it definitely isnt great. Even if it was though, what insentive do you have to play this game when the world and characters are so damn awful. Ultimately, dont let the casual gaming community, who are the only ones propping this game up, convince you to buy this, you will be extremely underwhelmed and disappointed at what those people consider to be a 5 out of 5 experience.

STAR WARS™: Knights of the Old Republic

Masterful Game Design

Classic game with interesting well written characters, great quests, great art direction and atmosphere, etc... For those wondering why we dont receive games like this anymore 1) 99.9% of games today are not made by passionate artists, they are made with market research teams, which means that a bunch of passionless non gamers are paid to create graphs of data on the latest gaming trends that they then force on the developers in order to attempt to guarantee success. Artists ran the game studios in the 90s/2000s, but now genuine creativity has been pushed aside for the fear of being unsuccessful, even though most of these passionless trend data games are often unsuccessful because of how generic they are. 2) Lack of independent thinking among consumers has led to gaming journalists becoming way to influencial despite having objectively corrupt opinions on video games. These companies were never very good at reviewing games, but nowadays they are just complete frauds who care mostly about the politics and ideology of a game and its devs rather than how genuinely fun and creative a game is. Game studios today feel like they need to pander to these frauds in order to achieve a high score that will boost sales. 3) Improvement in graphics has led to game studios not focusing on core gameplay and are often trying to trick consumers into buying games solely on graphics, often at the behest of the publishers. Almost no game today is marketed on gameplay innovation like they did in the 90s/2000s, it is always "look how pretty this game we made is, but please ignore how generic the gameplay, art direction, characters, quests, and everything else is". Corporations really want consumers to prefer graphics over content, because then they can assemply line that crap out very quickly, which is what many franchises have been doing for years now. There are many more problems with modern game design than just this, but these are some of the main issues.
