The art is beautiful and it does not hold your hand with lots of tutorials. Very entertaining.
It's a nice game. Very similar to the one from a couple years ago. Worth the money IMHO.
Bought the Steam version long ago, but it's great to know it's now available DRM-free. Bought it as soon as I saw it on GOG.
If you like the original SoR trilogy, and do not mind the fact that this uses a different art style, you will like this. Probably.
I played Dark Forces originally in 1996 I think. The controllers were not ideal and the game seemed to difficult to me to enjoy it properly. Now with WASD and mouselook the game is much more enjoyable. It also has music and graphics improvements, but I do not care much about them, I prefer the original look. Really good game, level design is really good even if a bit confusing in a few spots.
The game itself is very nice, specially the graphics style, it's gorgeous. The controls work great, I use an xbox 360 gamepad connected to my win7 laptop, it works beautifully. If you like run 'n gun games, you gotta get this one and enjoy it, totally deserved. One minor caveat: The game requires *both* VC 2013 redist packages (x86 and x64) so install them before trying to play, otherwise the game gets stuck on a black "old" screen on startup.
