Best $30 I've spent in a long time. When you consider that I have nearly 4000 hours logged into my various DOW accounts (and another 2500+ in DOW2) you may think I kinda like the game. But until now, I suffered through the dreaded sound crashes. But No More, Demon! The Emporer's Might has squelched the sound issues! If you are new to the game and you get this version, you have no idea how good you got it.
I've been playing this since the day of release and I still go back to it from time to time. Deceptively simple until the Bishop betrays your ass and you get beaten. Mega bang for your buck.
The game that got me into RTS gaming and here I am 20 years later still playing it.
If you've never played DOOM, it's about time. Even the cheesy original; is play worthy if not a bit tough on the eyes for the really low res graphics. But by the time you get to DOOM 3, you can crank up the graphics and it is a super fun playable game. It blows away my $1 an hour test for if a game is worth it. I likely bought this game 3 times over the years, but now that it on STEAM I know my $8 is the last time I need ever pay for it.
Do yourself a favour and buy the complete series bundle from GOG or Steam. I have over 1000+ hours playing DOW and smae for DOW2. DOW3 is a let down but still playable, but hey it's free with the full pack.
I've been playing video games since Pong was new and this has been my all time favorite. It's 2024, I have a $6000 computer for VR development and here I am repeatedly playing a game from when I was rocking an Athalon X4. Seriously, the first 2 DOW titles & expansions are epic. Skip on DOW3, it's such a steaming heap Relic even abaondoned it a month after release (yeah, 1 month after thousands of fans dished out thier cash they turfed it). I worked out last year what I've paid per hour of use for the franchise and it was about 1.7 cents.
