In a current discussion about Silksong and it's difficulty Death's Door was referenced several times. Finally, it's time for my verdict on Death's Door: Fortunately, I have realizid Death's Door has some "Souls" aspects only after finishing it. It is challenging, and I was about to drop it during my first run more than once (obviously, the "Souls"-thingie). But, again fortunately, I kept going. ^^ This is a wonderful game. The basic idea is, yeah, though somewhat on the darker side of life and beyond, funny and great. Combining a "morbid" lore with a cute "morbid" protagonist in a colorful world is, by itself, a brilliant concept. But to translate it that way is genius. The "reaping commission" works as the central hub connecting the different levels. Each level is a cute and carefully layout "county" with a lot to discover. And you should reach for every possible corner, you'll be rewarded for sure. The art style is marvellous and consistent to "death". Colors, tone mapping and lighting is in a nearly perfect balance. The music adds the acoustic glue. For me, it's a peace of art: 9/10. One point deduction for the "Souls"-vibes without alternative approach.
