Lots of detail to cater for multiple empire play styles and pretty solid game mechanics. Lots of DLCs that add more variety but they're not cheap, so do your research and slect the ones you want. Would have been nice to have a DLC loyalty rate, where each one you have makes your next one cheaper. Don't expect to control your ships in direct combat. I think the addition of a battle strategy option pre-battle would have been a nice touch to auto pause each combat so you can set your objectives, but it works ok as it is.
