if you are older than 12 then you probably will not enjoy this game very much, I think of it as a COMMAND&CONQUERLITE, or maybe EXTRALITE? not much meat here for the adult RTS fans. the most annoying feature for me is the CARD feature, it's an interesting feature but you CAN'T turn it off.....so you can build up your forces and head over to the enemy base and before you know it WHAMMO your forces all just lost 50% health or some stupid thing that the AI player chose as a card from their deck....the developers should have given us the ability to enable or disable this feature but they didn't, also no resource harvesting here so not an RTS game in the truest sense.
wow....2018 and i am finally playing FARCRY!!! first-off i must say cryteam did an amazing job with the visuals, i mean the game world is beautiful and you can see pretty far-off into the distance, it almost tricks me into thinking that my crappy single-core processor running @ 1.60ghz 2gbRAM and a integrated ATI 3200 video card is better than it actually is, the game looks really good and runs very smooth on my low-spec system. a very good FPS-game with lottsa action and gunplay!!! includes a level-editor so you can make your own levels. now for the bad or should i say the disapointing? this game is WAY TOO HARD on the easy difficulty setting, easy should be just-that EASY!!!! but the NPC's in this game will take you down real fast...on easy difficulty they are TOO accurate with their weapons, inflict TOO-MUCH damage and it can take a few shots to put them down, i mean COME-ON cryteam..would it have been so hard to give us a ONE-SHOT kill? here is how it should go...player sees bad-guy, player shoots bad-guy ONCE, bad-guy goes down, that's one way to handle EASY difficulty. also how-come there are no female baddies? all the enemies are guys, i like a little YIN-IN-MY-YANG in these type of games and it would have been nice to have some female enemies trying to fill me full of holes also. one more thing bothers me...no BOTS present in multiplayer, WTF??? why wouldn't they just include some? kindof standard with these types of games in this day and age but i guess cryteam didn't get the memo on that one. ok i am done complaining, bottom line is that it's a great game that shouldn't be missed if you have a low-end PC like me, and after you beat the game the included level-editor will keep you busy for a while, does anyone know any good youtube tutorial videos that will help me learn to use this thing?
sorry people, as much as i would like to review UPRISING2 for the PC i can't because GOG didn't include the software version that the original game did include. the software version is a version that will work on ALL pc configurations, GOG decided to only include the 3dfx version, they included some type of glide wrap thing that is supposed to let you run 3dfx games on non-3dfx computers but this didn't work for me, thanks for nothing GOG...i mean come-on, would it have been so hard to include the software installer?
this game could have been sooooo much more, but the developers(underachievers) decided to go the ARCADE route in terms of gameplay and story so don't expect any DEPTH to this game, little children might like it but gamers should look elsewhere, do you like to BABYSIT your base because your citadel gun turret can't get the job done? then maybe this game is for you, do you like cheezy hand drawn poorly animated infantry instead of digitized actors ? TMTGIFY, do you like bad voice acting and pretty much everything else? TMTGIFY...what a shame, I wonder if anyone ever tried to mod this game? it's so bad that it SHOULD be FREE, how can GOG justify charging people to play this crap?
are there better rts games out there,sure..probably..but this is the only one i will ever need,in addition to the campaigns you also have SKIRMISH against the AI or maybe you prefer online multiplayer...i just play offline skirmish against the AI,,on hard mode it will hand you your ass,be warned. so if you never played an rts before and want to try one,then give this a shot...if you dont like it then chances are you wont like ANY of the rts games,also you can download an editor for this,although i found it very hard to use,not the most user friendly editor but at least it can be downloaded for those who like to tinker. i think i bought this ten years ago and still play it,even though i own it on cd it is nice to have a version that doesnt need any cd in the cdrom drive while playing. an ageless and awesom RTS game.
i didnt enjoy it as much as i thought i would but for sure it was worth the purchase. one thing you can NOT do is runNgun like most games of this genre or you are dead meat pronto. the game is very tackySLASHcheesey but as good as any 3d shooter out there,i had to laugh at the fact that ALL the female characters have the same body model or should i say BOOBIES with just the head model being different....come to think of it i used to know a woman years ago with those exact same boobies,i miss you Doran...more than you will ever know...sigh..sorry,getting off track......it is an ok game,just dont expect too much and you should enjoy the game. too bad it didnt come with any type of extras like,level editors or model editors...something,anything..just wish the game developers would give us more power to tinker with their games.
ok...what is the coolest thing about this game,not the AI,not the graphics,not the sounds,no.. all these are pretty good but the STAR of the show is the BUILT IN MISSION EDITOR. how did i ever enjoy games before it,how i wish ALL game developers would take note of what bohemia did with this powerful yet easy to use editor and try to copy it in their games,ah....if only. pretty much anything you can dream up is possible with this editor,soldier vs soldier,huge tank battles,air forces vs ground forces,no two games ever have to be the same,it is pure geneius. now for the BAD.....the game is not perfect,my biggest problem is playing as sniper class...my sights are on the enemy soldier...no way i can miss...right...wrong..WTF,how could i miss him...even worse is the fact that enemies dont always go down with a single shot....i know i hit the dude b-coz i saw the blood splat yet he doesnt drop,hmmmm i guess he is on PCP or some such drug...i will shoot him again. sometimes it takes two shots to kill a guy and i have even had some guys that take 3 hits before dropping,WTF....i have never been a soldier but i am pretty sure that one shot will be more than enough to kill or incapasatate ANY enemy soldier,hmmmm funny how the enemy with the AK74 can kill me from 300 yards away with the accuracy of a sniper,but no matter how frustrating this can be the awesome editor keeps me coming back for more. if i ever get a more powerful pc i will get the other arma games as well,in my opinion this game is a MUST OWN,its a part of pc gaming history. plz forgive my bad spelling and grammar.
