So... if you like story driven horror game that has a simple puzzles and villians with sad background story. Combat through the enemies and overcome obstacles with gadgets. Unexpected events that doesn't only scare you, but also humors you. Go for it, but take your time while exploring. Allowing to find secrets that upgrade your skills and makes it more worthwile, which also deepens the lore. Took 12 hours to end it with all the upgraes and vinlys, at normal difficult. Good: - Making jokes does not water down the horrofying atmosphere. - Adding colorfull theme and soundtrack towards every character makes it... unique. - Sad background lore of villians makes its lore deeper. - Story in this game is good, its just a good twist. - Not many overused horror elements in it either, which is also outstanding. - Easy puzzles or obstacles to defeat or getting gadgets to explore different areas. - Upgrading your skills by finding special pills are around the levels. Gives u more reason to revisit/explore. - Unique gadgets, like a mirror that shows your back and secrets? I will not try to give away too much info. - Did not find one bug/problems. A big plus, for an indie developer! - Cat. Just pet it to the max. Purfect. Neutral: - Some note/lore can be edgy/cringe. This does not apply for everyone. Bad: - Getting to some pills took time. Couldn't do it without walkthrough. Now, would the creators kindly make another game like this. A pretty please? Don't force me to use a tape player!
Third person game with sneaking as it’s main core, linear method of solving simple obstacles for defeating enemies and clearing path to survival. Plays really comfortable from the couch with no hardcore input needed, just need to be alert. Finished the game 100% in 17 hours and 30 minutes. PROS: -Art is giving the correct dark christian medieval setting astonishingly, damaged skins on faces, dirty clothes, pale gloomy mood atmosphere... amazing. -Rats are creating amazing twists in game mechanics and creeping up feeling. -Sneaking and hiding from enemies while distracting them in very well designed levels. -Dark medieval age setting by mixing it with war environment makes it truly chaotically good. -Story progressively becomes interesting by growing the main protagonists in their own way. -Crafting new projectiles or mixtures gives the game interesting mechanics to counter obstacles. NEUTRAL: -Combat is "keep your distance and kill" while solving enemy patterns, getting grabbed/shot/stabbed is death. BUT this is far more interesting than just a hack/slash game. -Characters are a bit simple, there is no deep conversation with them. BUT what they encounter are unexpectedly bloody good. -Achievement completion is not possible without watching walkthrough. BUT chapters can be played separately to get them easily afterwards. -Equipment upgrade was the most time consuming for me, because of the efficiency that's needed with the founded items. BUT the game can be beaten without upgrading fully. -Auto checkpoints, cannot save manually. BUT chapters are not that time consuming. -English voice acting has a french accent to it. BUT it's understandable, french indie developer. CONS: -Some levels/battles have to be solved in the one way the developers meant it to be, doing it wrong or not knowing what to do is not acceptable. -Replay value is slim, no new game plus with new experiences, instead you get 3 save slots in total, allowing to begin from scratch. -OST download?
You can play with only your mouse, so kinda ease up and play without putting to much effort in it. BUT it has extremely rich depth of lore and spiderweb that connects everything with eachother, so pay attention and take your time reading it, yes, it is a novel game. ALSO it's a part RNG game, chance is depending on the choices combined with the skills/buffs ingame. So, if you are a skip-skip person that doesn't like reading, then please don't buy it, you need to take your time for this marvel to enjoy it. PROS: -Detective that has lost it's memory, starting newly on this game, you as the player will play "double" detective, while trying to uncover the main protagonist and solving the cases around him. -The world itself and lore about it is to mythical, while you are trying to maintain your logical thinking, there are some things that surpass them. -Every character in this game is an onion, no they don't smell (besides yourself in the game), they are getting interesting the more you delve into them. -Politics and religion are part of this game, and they are chaotically well written. -Unexpected choices in conversations/actions turns the game into amazing experience. -Opening conversations with characters will allow you to hear their voices, to give you a vision. -Changing clothes for buffs, change it often, for better RNG chances. NEUTRAL: -Music is minimal but strong, captures the dark inputs really well and dangers sometimes. BUT can be repetetive at some points. -Skill points are really diverse, gives you even hints in conversation/choices. BUT the RNG is irritating me sometimes. -Time in this game, days pass on, changes some environments/characters, gives you a rush feeling. BUT just take your time... it doesn't. -Currency is really difficult maintain in the first part. BUT later, it just becomes to easy . CONS: -Voice acting doesn't feel powerfull with some characters, feels amateurish. -Loading screens... -No OST to download?
Don't get me wrong, dungeon keeper 1 is my all time favorite game, but this is not done it's nostalgia magic on me. The good parts: -It is in complete 3D! -Picking up creatures and dropping stuns them, so your enemies cannot spam them. -Creating groups in first person view. -Spells level up now, example, summoning imps with level 4. -At the End of each campaign, there is a funny cinematic cgi. -Workshop is a big improvement of prequel, now you choose the traps you want, which trolls will make them. -Increasing and decreasing speed of the game itself. Bad parts: -Mana is added, why not only gold like previous one. It is used by spells only, even by some traps continuosly. -Sound is way off and missing a lot, does not give statisfaction as prequel one. -Training limits, creatures level up to fixed amount (I think 4), for more exp, let em battle. -UI, this is completely disaster, it is not clear, especially the map... -Battle stats, when your creatures are battling, in DK1 you could see their healths and pick em up. -Timers on some missions, again why? Forcing the player to rush is not enjoyable at all. -Crashing when playing first person view... -Reinforced walls can be broken now by imps. Neutral parts: -The cinematic movements of camera ingame, when starting the mission and giving some briefing is actually not bad. -Voice acted horned reaper is the narrator. On it's own, it is not bad game, feels like a total different game. But as a sequel? It's just not worthy classic.
Dungeon keeper is one of those games where you play it once and gives the thirst for more. There is one goal in this game, defeat pesty human knights and conquer their places. The resource is just gold, for building the needs for your dungeon and even spells. Such an easy understanding... a must play for every rts geek. Do this before playing! -Increasing resolution and gaining some mercy on your eyes by clicking "ALT + R" ingame, the game will be lagging, to reduce this edit the file "dosboxDK.conf" and change the following "cycles=80000" to "cycles=max". -Because the game is in dos emulator, using "ALT + F12" will give you fast forward. (google dosbox shortcuts for more info) Liked parts: -You are evil, slap your working imps to let them work faster, level up your creatures to conquer the lands for your needs. -There is a spell that allows you to go in first person view and control your minion, this is just amazing! -Missions that are interesting, that will just keep you interested for a long period, took me 25 hours! -Sound, picking up creatures, torturing your enemy or mistress, chicken slapping, all of them just makes a statisfying atmosphere... weird. -Must explore the caves completely! You will find transfer question mark boxes. This will allow you the transfer one of your selected minion to be moved on the next level. Disliked parts: -Mission NEVERGRIM, oh my lord, it is unbeatable. Use transfer creature boxes! -Last mission, called skybird, once you think it is over, just wait and see. Try to convert the last enemy boss called the avatar! -Traps, these are just so irritating and overpowered, to disable them your imps have to convert the ground it is standing on, so it will take sacrifices. Neutral: -Save game limit is just to low. -No level editor included. -Temple cheat codes are never given. (search DK temple recipes) All in all, a must play for peeps that likes making base, level up your creatures and dominating your enemies. Just smashingly evil.
I played this for the first time, it is not your ordinary bread and butter strategy game. But my experience of theme hospital, knights & merchants and dungeon keeper got me going. Once I had the hang of it, it finally made all sense. It just took like 10 hours to understand the system good. Missions with tutorials included took me like 25 hours to finish. This game has: -Great missions, it starts slow and simple, but after mission 6, it begins to become showing it's difficulty. Also the voiced briefings are really well done. -Economy, building facilities and hiring aliens to let them work. To keep your hired peeps happy, you also need to make some entertainment sectors, such as love nest, yes lovey lovey enlightments... -Small jokes all over the place, for example when clicking on alien, you can see their stats or bio, one that stick with me "Special interests: Bottom Burping Competition"... I hired her as soon possible. -Shape different geology and allow one nailed aliens to plant some trees there. Afterwards selling them off to traders. Or you can hire some monks for religion. The parts that really disturbed me where: -Combat system, this is really irritating, the hired mercenaries have their own will, you just click on enemies or buildings and giving the priority by clicking multiple times on it. -UI, there is just one small radar looking thingy left above and that's basically it. There are many hidden things on it which you don't know in the beginning, it's literally hidden. -Hiring staff and promoting, if you get large staff this becomes really irritating. -Conquering, bots called security scuzzer has to take over segments, if you lose em, you are done. -Spies, enemies planting bombs... really? -Very very slow pacing, why didn't they just add fast forward. Neutral thingies: -1 music to rule them all. -What in darnation is that intro cinematic. All in all, a must play for SIM strategy lovers. But otherwise, just stay away.
