As title said this game is what I can call a commandos-like. You'll find in this game a lot of mechanisims you found in commandos like think and plan before act, the save and reload buttons as features andmore :) ! The formula doesn't really change, it's like a big puzzle that you must solve piece by piece and sometimes you have multiple ways to solve it. This is not a strategy game for everyone as it's kinda slow and you must not rush or you will die anyway. You must be patient, plan ahead and evaluate every situation carefully. Final point, I can recommand it for people who liked commandos series or robin hood legend of sherwood. If you liked these titles, you may like this one too as I do.
I bought Far Cry 2 on day 1 at my local games store and what a big mistake it was. First of all the "superb" SECUROM drm was really annoying but, I can pass on that. First mission, repair a useless car, drive 10 minutes, kill a bunch of bad guys and drive back another 10 minutes to receive your reward. But wait be advised, on your way you'll be follow and attack by bad guys in cars constantly. Also in the game, the ennemies you killed respawn every 5 minutes or so. THEY ARE VAMPIRES! Take a look a this case that hapen quite often in the game : You go to the city, a guy from a faction give you a mission that is all over the map at 10-15 minutes ride and between point A and B you have 2 outposts. So, you must clear these outposts on go, you do your 1 minute mission but, you must clear again these outposts on your way back because they all respawned! Also, did i mention that you'll be attack by random dudes in cars ? -.- I mean the game had great graphics back that day... but the game mechanics was boring. Uninstall the game after 2 days, retried it 2 years later but uninstall it again 1 hour later.
This game is good but as a star wars and strategy games fan there is something in this game I cannot stand. To be honest, it's may be the game that didn't pass well through the years, but after a couple of hours of gaming I'm already done and I uninstall it.
