5 star reviewers are absolutely insane. The controls are very stupidly set up and almost every element of the game has aged poorly: graphics, sound, movement, UI... If you want to play a tank game I suggest the red orchestra games or war thunder.. This is a game for freaks and nostalgia guys only.
If you want to play a shadowrun computer game then this is it. I recommend starting here rather than with the first game... The gameplay is improved and the story is more interesting. My main complaint is the game is a little too short and there isn't really that much variety of choice. The writing is nothing mind blowing, but the world building and plot are interesting enough to make you want to keep playing until the finish. I actually looked forward to talking to all the characters in my party after each job. And I felt like exploring all the areas and talking to all the NPCs was not a chore. The combat is serviceable once you get used to it, but the UI and engine seem a bit clunky / slow. The game is fairly simple but overall an enjoyable experience. Just don't be expecting a whole lot of tactical / RPG complexity or depth. What I'd like to see is a continuation of the franchise with the same core gameplay in a new engine that runs more smoothly. I played through some user created modules and they were OK... there is a big potential for a sequel though if the developers get their **** together.
My first real experience with a dungeon management type game. It kept me playing through the campaign but there were a lot of frustrating moments - mainly from sluggish controls. So many things just seem like they could have been controlled in a less tedious way. Selecting units and dropping them with the hand is not well done. The other issue is everything is just so bland and vanilla fantasy - so much so that the game is making fun of this fact on the regular basis. But it kind of gets that feeling like the writers were getting really sick and tired of the joke towards the end of the game... The narrator is pretty good but I frequently questioned myself as to why I was wasting my time playing this game in the first place. The reason is that the dungeon management mechanics are actually pretty good, and you feel a real sense of progression and the above world exploration isnt terrible either. Overall its worth a try, I guess, if you don't have anything else better to play/do....
Pretty good, memorable experience. Its a walking/talking game, so don't expect any revolutionary gameplay. A nice mostly relaxing game (but why did they have to have so many cheap jumpscares....). Other than the cheesy jumpscares my only critique is there is too much backtracking to find little items.
