The game freezes then crashes at the opening title sequence. Apparantly you can get the game to work by disabling cores, because the game crashes after a few seconds you don't have time to set the processor affinity so you need to do it via the BIOS which is not something I'm prepared to do.

I've sunk over 500 hours into the base game on the "other platform" and maybe around the same on GOG including the Phantom Liberty DLC. I've got every ending, the vast majority of the gigs and side missions, and yet after every play through I still feel empty after finishing it. Each and every time, I will scour the internet for "games like cyberpunk 2077" and nothing, literally nothing even comes close to the depth of story telling, the richness of the characters, and the emotional journey this game takes you on. I've had feelings of sadness after finishing a game I enjoyed in the past, but never has a game made me shun every other game in my library because it just isn't the same. Nobody wins in Night City, every possible choice you make has consequences, somebody will get hurt no matter how good you try to be. You will be betrayed, you will inevitably betray others, you will feel loss, you will be forced to make decisions you do not want to make, you may even choose to sacrifice yourself but this still hurts people. This game, man. Anyway, after beating it as with a stealth pistol build, a tactical assault build, a freerunning blade master, a chromed out gorrila armed skull crushing tank, and a cyberwizard, I'm now going to give it another run as a monowire wielding gymnast and self limit what cyberware I can use. May the lord have mercy on my soul.

Preface: I never really played the first game, but do own it and intend on playing it in the near future. This game looks amazing, it plays excellently and runs smooth, Some of the environments are really unnerving, espially if you are short on ammo, it genuinely makes you feel helpless. The story is fine, I didn't really care about the characters or what happened to them, but the environments and game play are more than enough to carry the game. Quirks and Jank: Yes, there are quirks and some jank, it is a small studio so it is to be expected. The game has visuals that can compete with any AAA game, it is this reason why I think the jank stands out more. All in all, nowhere near enough to tarnish this fine game.

This game is a classic, I had so much fun with it in my younger years. I played through 1 - 2 hours of this game last night with my fiance and will be continuing to the end and we had a blast. I did hit a couple of temporary freezes in my game, although they were short lived. I can only assume these are due to me playing on a modern Windows release and Microsoft do enjoy breaking stuff. I will be playing on Linux for the next session. Anyway, a very fun game with a witty and comedic script. I'm pleased I have this in my library.

This is such a great game! Sure, the graphics are dated, the castle management isn't as in-depth as some modern strategy games, but even so this game blasts most modern medieval strategy games clean out of the water. The combat can be brutal if you crank up the difficulty, laying siege to a rival's castle without proper planning can see your screen full of knights summarily turned to paste by a handful of crossbowmen atop a stone tower. You need to plan your assault, analyse what defences there are, what land obstacles lay before you, then build you units accordingly. Likewise, defending your own castle needs planning, Having high stone walls lined with crossbowmen, archers, and burning tar is great, but if you only have a single layer of wall then a trebuchet will make light work of you. The combat and castle building is great, but another aspect is managing castle life. You have to build farms and granaries to feed and store food for your civilian workers, you need to build entertainment to keep the peasants happy, you need to ensure they are safe from attack. If you fail to keep the peasants happy they will leave and you'll have nobody to train into combat units or make the weapons you need. Such an amazing game.

This game blew me away! The environments are beautifully crafted, oppressive, tragic, and eery. The game plays just like the classic survival horrors, with a fairly recent addition of a very competent 3rd person perspective. Exploring the claustrophobic tower block at the beginning of the game will live on as one of my favourite gaming experiences.

I played Dino Crisis so much as a lad, people say it's Resident Evil with dinosaurs and while they are correct it is so much more. These games helped shape and lead innovation in so many other games. Finally, I cannot thank the GOG team enough for their efforts in the preservation and restoration of the classics. Genuinely, thank you.

...that loses a star for releasing with game breaking bugs for many. I didn't play on release day, instead waiting for several patches to get pushed, my experience has seen some choppy performance but all in all, good. The environments are stunning, daunting, terrifying in places, hilarious in others. The characters you meet are crazy! They have dumbed down a couple of mechanics, but it is still a very enjoyable game. The first few times out at night, not knowing what to expect, was something I'm not going to forget. The world is an absolute joy to explore, I can't wait to fire it up again. The feeling of wading through thick overgrown nature only to see a large industrial complex emerge out of nowhere is wonderful. Likewise, the terror of being in the middle of nowhere and an emission warning is sounded. Love it! Some negatives: As mentioned, many people have experienced terrible performance at launch. For my personal taste, I did install a few mods to alter things slightly. The armour and weapons wear down far too quickly, and it is super expensive to have them repaired. In the first few hours, I found myself grinding just so I could have a functioning gas mask and weapon for the next run, to that end, I installed a mod that decreases the wear by a factor of two meaning I can get three+ full and long excursions out of them before needing a repair. It is easy to shoot your mates in the face. The only indicator that an NPC is friendly or hostile is the reticle, which turns green for friendly. However, if you like a minimal UI, you will get zero feedback on their intentions. This game is quite challenging on hard so I find myself quick saving when I see a group, then waiting for their response, if they are hostile then it's already too late - you need to get tactical when outnumbered.

I first bought this game on Steam and played through it, and was blown away but the current state of gaming has soured me somewhat. The developers say there are tonnes of story paths and "choices matter" blah blah blah sure, we've heard it all before. Anyway, a while ago I watched somebody streaming this game and their play through looked extremely different to mine, WTF! [minor spoiler] So yeah, I'm now several play throughs deep, just this weekend I got to the end of act 2 and thought "is it possible to save this shadow cursed land" which I have never done, it turns out yes you can! So I started a new journey! I'm rambling, game good, many choice, much fun.

This game does lots of things right, the atmosphere is creepy, the voice acting is great, the controls are good. If you enjoy horror games then this is definitely one to pickup. For me though, this game didn't click, not because of any bad choices or technical problems, but more the story. The first few chapters were very good, cliche but good. I get that it was trying to push a psychological angle, a man coming apart with the unravelling of the plot. But it was done in a way that just kicked me out of the story completely. At about the mid-way point I stopped caring about the story, the characters, or why I was doing something. Luckily the gameplay and environments are good enough to carry the game. Others really like the story, I can see why, for me it was just like when I played Death Stranding. An absolute mish-mash of ideas that are too weird.
