Earthworm Jim

Early 90's Platforming At Its Strangest

Note I said 'strangest' -- 'Grossest' would go to Boogerman...Though this game does deal with a snot-boss, too. Earthwom Jim isn't afraid to be weird - One moment you're jumping around in a junk-yard fighting a trash-can monster, next you're dodging flames and attacks from an overzealous cat, and after that you're protecting a bipolar puppy! Profoundly-silly! Controls hold up. They're still responsive and solid, the arc of Jim's jump flows well, and the level-design never feels overwelming, even as they get expansive (Well, the final level's helicopter-descent does rely on trial-and-error memorization. Be aware of that.) Music is appropriate in many cases too, like how the 'What The Heck' level transitions from 'Night on Bald Mounain' to elevator muzak, replete with the screams of the tortured. Do note, however, that this is NOT the 'Special Edition' - It does not have the redbook Tallarico soundtrack, expanded/extra levels, or updated ending sequences. If you're looking for a relatively straightforward action/platformer -- And Ren & Stimpy's your thing -- You really can't go wrong with an annelid in a super-suit!

Beyond Good & Evil™

Word to the Wise...

While a good port, it is also the only one without Controller support. I would advise getting this game elsewhere.
