Played through everything, so I feel qualified to say the game is pretty good. Addressing some criticism: The plot is good, and the characters are good too. I think most people criticizing that have not actually played the game, or they rushed it. Combat can be sloppy, but its usually good (ever use the revolver before? Headshots are fun as hell). This game is an RPG, not having advanced RPG dialogue does not somehow change that. When did that become a requirement? This game has genuine criticism, but that isn't it. Character backgrounds could have been more. They matter in the prologue, but afterwards are dumbed down to specialized dialogue choices for your chosen background. Wasted potential there. The main story is incredible. Love Keanu Reeves in this, I was surprised how involved he is in the actual game. I really thought he'd just be a temporary character, but nope. He is there from beginning to end. The story branches off in Act 2, and is pretty long. It does an incredible job at integrating the main romances in to the main plot of the game. Panam's plotline was probably one of the best romance subplots I've seen since Star Wars KOTOR (looking at you Bastila). It left me sad that I couldn't have more, and thats a very special thing when a videogame can do that to you. As for the side content, it could be better. The map is filled with loads of police department missions (think of it like crimewatch, go here and stop these bad guys), and side missions are mostly dumbed down into things called "Gigs". They are basically repetitive missions that have been given just enough flair to seem new each time. The real side missions that have plot and are unique are pretty rare, and you usually find them through phonecalls. I feel like this is something that will be improved upon greatly through the future free DLC. Overall, great game. Its receiving a lot of hate now (some well deserved), but I think 5 years from now this will be viewed as one of the best.
