Resident Evil 2

Finally!

Still my favorite RE game of all time. The port works great and I had no serious issues while playing. The voices seemed to be a little distorted/staticky on words with "S"s in them and were quieter than the music overall, but otherwise everything else was on point. So glad to be able to finally be able to play the original version (despite how great the remake is) in all its glory. Only wish it was the Dual Shock version for the aiming ability, but still it's awesome. Thanks GOG!

Indiana Jones® and the Infernal Machine™

Indy deserves better

Nostalgia glasses shade a lot. I have fond memories of this game 20 years ago, but now, hoo boy are the controls BAD to the point that I find this game to be unplayable. Navigating around even with a controller is a completely painful process and I gave up after struggling on the first level. It's too bad because aside from the control issues this was a great adventure game with lots of areas to explore and some neat environments, especially for the time. Don't waste your time unless you don't mind muddling through the control issues. I recommend Emperor's Tomb instead.

Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition

Thank you Gog!

Thank you Gog, I can finally play this classic again without all the crashes and manual patches required to play it on Steam! Oh and the game is awesome also.

The Suffering: Ties That Bind

Dated horror/shooter

Compared to the first game, this one actually seems to play worse. Enemies (as few as there are) are basically bullet sponges, you can only hold two weapons at a time, the combat is weak at best, and transforming into the beast does not allow you any special abilities other than a really broad-sweeping hack and slash type of combat. The horror elements are meh, and the repeated flashes on the screen that give you scant pieces of the main character's past are flat out annoying. With all of this happening at once, I really didn't care what kind of ending I got, I just wanted it to end so I could go play something else. Get it on sale or don't waste your time.

The Suffering

Ok for it's age

I never played it back in the day, but as it stands now the Suffering is a reasonably good action/horror game. The graphics, controls, and overall presentation are definitely a product of its time. I can't say I love everything about it - mostly the repetitiveness of the enemies is what I like the least - and how some levels seem like nothing more than a chance to mow down enemies with a turret. But overall, the horror aspects are good and I would say it reminds me of a horror version of the game Manhunt in some ways. Worth a shot if you like action, horror, and don't mind the somewhat overall clunkiness of how it plays.
