Torchlight

It was ok I guess

Functionally the game is just fine. It doesn't really try to do anything spectacular. I liked some features like the pet companion from the very beginning and the random dungeons can be a good thing if you plan on playing this game alot. The loot was standard I'd say, not bad. Other than that its sorta stale for me, unless this is your first ARPG you probably wont be satisfied with it. The story is really milk toast, no real thought needs to be put in it. It only exists to get you to go deeper into the mines. After I killed the last boss I uninstalled the game and didn't look back. NPC characters and all the "Story" characters are 1 dimensional at best. I can't remember any of their names off the top of my head and I finished the game last night. I wish I could give the game 2.5 stars because it wasn't terrible but there wasn't enough meat to give it an approving score either, it was really Eh.

Don't buy it for more than 6$

This was my first ARPG, so keep in mind I had no ties to things like Diablo or other similar ARPGs. The game was fun at first but about 2 hours in and you will have seen everything that the game has to offer mechanically. The story is sorta bland, and incredibly short. I beat the game in 10 hours. It almost feels like the dev team blew thier budget on Geralt's voice actor. Speaking of him, it sounds just like Geralt from witcher lol, this might be fine for some but it just felt jarring for me. I liked the gameplay but it just wasnt deep enough for me to bother playing past the 10 hours to get to the end. You can't really spec into one specific weapon type untill level 28, when the game gives you specific weapon cards. People praise the destiny card system for being different from skill tree's but I just don't get the appeal. The level specific challenges were interesting at first but the loot system is also really shallow, and almost every single weapon is the same. Maybe this is just an ARPG thing but I was hoping for more of a borderlands feel where every weapon is very different. This made me not even bother with the challenges. There are only a handful of different enemy types. One of the major bosses is a reskin of a standard enemy. The characters are pretty flat. We HEAR alot about how experienced and bad ass some characters are but never see them doing anything that would reinforce the idea. The biggest offender is the female demon hunter you encounter early in the game. all she does is stand around, yet the game wants me to believe she is a legend capable of rebuilding the demon hunter club. It even goes as far as to tease a potential sequel (or I saw it that way anyways). It not awful if you can get it for less than 6$, but even then it just left a bad taste in my mouth.
