I first played the N64 version of this (The PC one is 100 times better). This game absolutely blew me away. There was NOTHING like this game. Later on I got a better PC and played this with my brother. The gameplay is challenging and requires you to properly equip your team and weapons. Then you go to the planning screen. You will spend most of your time in this screen, but it is very satisfying to create a plan and see it be perfectly executed. Gameplay is good as well. Missions are very tense, with smart enemies and an interesting story as well. This game is a classic part of gaming history. If you like military shooters this is a must buy.
This game is a classic. I have many memories of playing this back in the day. Hold up pretty well, and this game has tons of polish. Music and many other small details (such as troops holding muskets over their head while crossing rivers) really add immersion to this game. Land battles are entertaining, I had several great experiences places artillery and light infantry by a bridge or a tall hill and slaughtering entire enemy armies. AI has its short comings. if you are not careful your artillery will shoot and kill your own troops. And most of the time the enemy units will just end up charging you and battles end up in a massive mosh pit. The campaign map is a better experience, however the end game is just a huge mopping up operation. The game really shines when it comes to Naval Battles. I found them challenging and very well done. Despite these few short coming I still give it a five. This game blow my mind away when it first came out. If you enjoy Napoleon era strategy games this is a MUST buy.
