After all these years Civilization IV is still the pinnacle of the series. All leaders are historically significant instead of being C-tier filler for the purposes of not hurting anyone's feelings (looking at you, Civilization VI). The only downside is the end-game which tends to drag on a bit if you reach the modern times.
Crashes after starting new game, tried pretty much all the fixes the internet had to offer.
