Saints Row IV: Re-Elected

Runs on Linux, old version gone

I bought this game on sale in 2017, also as a gift to a friend. The old version has been quietly replaced and without consent on both accounts by the new "re-elected" update version that requires an Epic account now even for Single player. You need to be online to log in to your account now. I quick installed this on my Linux-Laptop to see what has changed and whether it runs at all now: - I can confirm it runs under Linux (I used Heroic Games Launcher and a Wine GE-Proton version 7.34) - It will prompt you to install some Wine-tricks as well as an Epic overlay - after that it launched without issues but it does require logging in to an Epic account now even in single-player - never was I asked nor agreed to an update to my version of 2017. I would have liked to keep that old version especially knowing how Epic acts and treats Linux. I don't want extra launchers after the fact - Nowhere was I asked, whether I want to install the old version or the new re-elected. There are also no install files left to choose from for installing the old version. The old version is GONE. (if you haven't downloaded and saved the install files before the unasked update on December 2022, there is no access to it anymore. You need to get it through some "other means") - I would have liked to have "options" and be asked

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition

Awesome must have for your collection!

The best decision that Bethesda ever made, was to open the game to the fans for modding. Skyrim is one of the most moddable games and thus deep, versatile and beautiful games with awesome freedom. Through this it improved over time and still manages to stay relevant. The fans poured in years of improvements, game fixes, extra content and functionality. Get this base game of Skyrim Special Edition that also includes all the AddOns. Avoid the unnecessary Creation Club content through the "Anniversary Edition". That just adds the notorious Creation Club in which you can buy mods that are freely available through the community (e.g. Nexus Mods) and includes some previous Creation Club content with it. You don't need that. Plus if you already run a modded version of SSE, this AddOn will usually break your Modlist and bork your applied mods. You can get all the mods and more that you could ever wish fore elsewhere.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition

Avoid Creation Club and its crap content

You can totally skip on this content. It just adds the notorious Creation Club Content to Skyrim. The CreationClub was introduced by Bethesda to market mod items or quest mods done by Bethesda themselves (seldom) or approved external creators (usually) for money that are usually available for free through Nexus Mods anyways. Plus it often breaks your modlist and messes up your mods when you already run a modded version of Skyrim SE. And the items included with this pack? Totally not worth it. You can either get them for free and if not, you don't need them anyways. Everything you want is done by fans for free. So you really don't need this money extortion store to access the content that is worth it. Get the base game that includes all AddOns already, get the mods you like. Have fun.

BioShock Infinite Complete Edition

Nice Steam-Punk game

Enjoyable Game experience: A really nice Steam-Punk game. If the likes of Dishonored are your thing you also need to play this. Cool setting and atmosphere. It's one of those genre-gems, you gotta have in your library and play at least ones ***** No-launcher or store detected: Also there is no 2K-launcher on the GoG version (YET. Let's hope it stays that way). ***** Good Linux gaming: Although GoG only offers the Windows-version of this game to date, I was able to install and start it up just fine with heroic-games launcher and Wine Lutris-GE-Proton 7.28 (see Glorious Eggroll's wine-version for use in Lutris that you can get via ProtonUp UI) - just wait a little, might take a moment. Started out of the box. With some launch-options like "game mode" and DXVK enabled runs even better.

Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey

Awesome game!

I love games that explore the prehistoric time frame and early stages of humanity like Far Cry Primal. This one is right up my alley. I also rather like survival games with a realistic challanging backdrop like Green Hell. So this one is just great. Survive, develop and learn (a little bit) about prehistoric history and evolution. And hey ... it come with 8 million years of game time :) In your face AAA-titles :p

Blade Runner

It is back! \o/

The best version. Get this one - skip on the badly executed "ehanced edition"

Blade Runner - Enhanced Edition

Only for first-time buyers

Enhanced Edition of Blade Runner is not worth it compared to the original. The original Blade Runner is so much better and was ahead of its time. The atmosphere is supreme, multiple endings guarantee replayability. Only buy this when you don't have the original Blade Runner - since it is included in this purchase and there is unfortunately no orther way on GoG anymore to get the original standalone (thanks Nightdive Studios for this crappy marketing move). People who were lucky enough to get the original Blade Runner don't need to buy this to upgrade to an inferior "Enhanced" version. Just enjoy the classic.

Imperator: Rome

Half-baked & set for another DLC mess

You really have to be into roman empire strategy settings for this one. Else just pass. As for completeness? ... Well, it's Paradox Interactive. They have a reall hand in turning every half-good franchise into a DLC money grab with a half baked base game and a crap load of DLC's you have to pay a pritty penny to get the complete experience (like they are NOT cheap at all). And on this game they even managed to srew up the GoG store shop front by not porpperly linking the DLC's to the base game - so you really have to search for them or else you easily miss them. This game just started out, there will be more, you just wait ... Be watchfull and study and way your options before purchasing (and I really mean you have to "study"). And always only get on discount during a sale if your are rally into it. If you don't get what I mean, as an example Steallaris, Surviving Mars, Prison Architect are the more extreme examples of this DLC-extorsion practice; Age of Wonders: Planetfall, Battletech lesser so but the DLCs for a complete experience still cost an eye and an arm adding to the base game cost; Europa Universalis 3 and Cities in Motion used to be the same but now finally have at least a "complete edition" upgrade for purchase. And even the upcoming Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2 that isn't even out yet, is set for an incomplete "base game" and a season pass expansion + Story pack 1 & 2 already. You see the picture here?

Broken Sword 2: Remastered (2010)

Absolutely cult

I loved it back then and still love it. Those who came across the first game, eagerly got this second story when it came out. And boy was it good. Humor, riddles, jokes, thrilolers, fun ... point&click at its best - the likes of Monkey Island, Days of the Tentacle or Indiana Jones. Years later this second part of Broken Sword appears strangely familiar, if you compare it to Sonys Uncharted series. What came after the second part was two abomenations: the unfruitful and horrid attempts to move the series to 3D. (Even Monkey Island did not manage this - bad images of zombie like horrible characters still haunt those who accidently experienced the failed experiments and send chills to their bones). It was up to the fan base to fix this! Don't miss to also check out the Community project "Broken Sword 2.5 - Return of the Templars" that you can find for free online, if you love part 1 and 2. The community was so successful with its fan release that the original producer returned with another 2D attempt, that is also quite nice, yet not as successful: "Broken Sword 5 - the Serpent's Curse"
