Vampire: The Masquerade - Coteries of New York

visual novel alert

This is not a game, but visual novel. You can buy a comics, and it might have similar gameplay. Nevertheless, there is some mood in the game, and to you can walkthough it twice to see it all, the choice is minimal, and do not really have impact on end, but you can get the feeling that you click buttons and it has effect. Not much mechanic to play with. For some stories, i almost cared about so it is not a failure.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Shadows of New York

Visual novel without gameplay

It is visual novel without gameplay. Just click next text. If you buy a comics you can pick a page, also graphic and plot will be better. Not much to talk about as player have no agency in this. Warewolf or Coteries are a bit better. You can pick options there, but not here.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown Complete Pack

Really good in the genre

This game have great feel. Battles give nice tactical experience, with options, specialization and leveli up your troops, gearing up. Enemies are sometimes scary and can rip the faces of your troops. Casualties are neccesery. Nice bonus that it already contains Enemy Withing expansion. But it is really the feeling of the game, small cinematics, voice overs of your crew this sets mood well. Potencial drawbacks: Storyline is small size. Localizations could repeat. UFO vs Fighter is not compeling. The chance of to hit could be really random. On second walkthough could leave much worse experience, Gear variety is not that wide.

Stellaris: Leviathans Story Pack

It is not a moon

Steam owner. This little package is suprisingly beneficial. Space traders bring utility and abillity to trade credits for something useful. Which will affect most of your gameplays. Leviathans is something to do betwean the wars, or instead of wars. However when you kill them the benefit is not so important. War in Heavens is less important, since it is just one of end game crises. It may not even fire.

Stellaris

Sky is the limit

Have it on Steam. Stellar production. Easy to grasp the basics as for PDX game, or grand strategy. You can just jump in, and get the space ropes on the fly. You can make your own empire, and fallow your favorite troophy. It could be serious SF or joyrney of dark space elves. Game is visually and phonetic beauty. DLC are under control so far, and some bring significant value to next walkthough. Developer is still working on it, and generally tries to improve. But: AI could be quite stupid, and plays in very unoptimal way. You may need some dlc to get enought depth for mid and late game. It depends how many hours you want to play. It is game that could sink in for over 100. There are some inbalances, some strategies being so much better. Or you could arbitrary be blocked off something even if you are star empire. Still a lot of fun.

Rebel Galaxy

Best free game ever

I got it free at sale, so i expected nothing. But it was much more. Great fun for 10h. There is not many spaceprivateer games. And this one has preatty graphic, and smooth action combat. Game offers some varietty, we can can mine asteroids, run transports for the guild, hunt pirates, or attack innocent traders. There is also story, which is ok as narration. There is not much problem with the game, however it leaves with need for more. The trading system could be better, and easier to use. The variety of ships and weapons could be more balanced. There could be more storyquests. More content. However, if game leaves with need for more, that is good sign.

Dragon Age™: Origins - Ultimate Edition

Classic Gem

Very good cRPG. 1. Fallowing good Bioware plot with visiting 4 locations and then finishing. Original with 6 different backgrounds. Each location have fair share of sidequest. 2. Have real time (active pause) combat in tactical way (no action combat). Each character have multiple powers, and it is supporter with script mode, so it is easy to use. Some combat are challenging. 3. Character models are quite good (considering time). Also skill effects are bloody, sometimes with cool finishers, magic is also impresive in this one. 4. Locations often have own style, and have some nice points of interest, however in comparison to modern games are small, a bit empty, and more have more style than details. However small maps also means less MMO quests, and less traveling. 5. It is easy to love characters in this one, time passes but not many games suprased in when it comes to companions. Generally it is great game. Great that GOG obtained that. If you like Pillars of Eternity you will probably like this. But if you care about action gameplay of Witcher or Mass Effect it may feel less dynamic. Graphic is last gen. But: It has better face animation than Andromeda!

Pillars of Eternity: Hero Edition

Like BG in modern times

This games is what would be BG2 done in modern times. It has great story with a lot of mysticism around, Quests with options for different solutions. Unfortunetly not much companion story or meaningufll interaction. Also the first two acts are great, but 3rd and 4th are a bit more of the same, so it depends how much player want to play more, or is just ready to finish. May say that the game is too long, but that is hardly drawback since you end game when you are ready (no obligation to do ever single quests including mega dungeon and challenges). Good stuff is that game has not only main quests and sidequests, but also 12 level mega dungeon filled with combat (like diablo but active pause) and challenges, fighting some really hard bosses. Definetly enought content for the value. Game have satisfing ending, which depends on decisions player made. Gameplay is active pause team based combat, with original mechanic (not DnD style). With some interesting classes like Mindblowing Ciphers (psykers) or Chanters (bards with knack cor spirits) as well as some popular like Druids or pewpewing pet pal Ranger. So player will probably find something fiting own style. There could be some complains about balance, but at least on Hard it dosnt matter (enemies die and that is all what matters). Class progression is feat based so we can specialize our champions in own way with some freedom. However sometimes there is a feeling that some paths are just better. Note there is White March expansion, so buyers may wait till part 2 will be avaiable on steam (spring 2016). Overall good game for isometric cRPG lovers.
