The Final Station

Linear, but beautiful

I bought the game amidst the mixed reviews I read about it being too linear and not offering enough choices. So I maybe was a little preoccupied while playing the game and expected to be disappointed, but I will try to be objective. To describe the game in a few words: mysterious, apocalyptic, yet beautiful. The Final Station uses a different kind of story telling than the most other games and somehow reminds me of the way the first season "Fringe" was told. You start of as a simple conductor tasked with the seemingly easy job of riding an experimental train and delivering a cargo. But as you travel through the country, everything changes. But the story is not thrown at the player - you have to find out yourself what happens while you try to make it from station to station. People start acting cryptic around you and every station bears more questions than answers. Although the game is indeed very linear, it tells a beautiful, mysterious and sad story, completed by the beautiful soundtrack. And if you are taking a little bit of time to let the story soak in and look around the world you are thrown in, you will certainly enjoy this game.
