I finally had time to delve into Fallout London. This is a bigger - and in some ways, better - full game than Fallout 4. The stories, quests, voice-acting leave nothing to be distinguished from Bethesda's own creations. The re-imagined version of London is beautiful to explore, and I am mesmerized by the level of detail incorporated into the landmarks... The art and statues adorning the cathedral ceilings and walls, and the custom models the modding team must have created just to bring to life all these landmarks make me appreciate even more the time and effort they have put into this work of passion. I sure hope they have all been approached by Bethesda to work on their future games and DLC! There is much more that can be said, and I dare not say anything negative because nothing came even close to impacting my experience with this wonderful "mod." I have not noticed visual glitches or "jank" that isn't in vanilla Fallout 4 in the first place. In fact, I noticed less of them in FOLON! I do notice the team are still at work for patches and new content. I know I speak for all of us when I say thank you!
The remastered version was revealed and released today. First thing I did was check to see if it is available on GOG. I quickly found out it is not. So instead of buying a DRM copy elsewhere, I bought the classic version of the game on GOG. Even if I may never get around to playing it - despite wanting to - I want the message to be clear: I will not buy another game on Steam or elsewhere that forces to me rely on a launcher and internet connection to install a game. I appreciate the GOG offline installers and the fact that I can install, launch, play an entire game without the launcher or an internet connection. The new future is without DRM and where the buyer owns the copy they buy. Period.
I came here as fast as I could! The long-awaited Fallout London finally arrived, and I cannot wait to dedicate some proper time to playing it. I was baffled by what I perceived to be a lower than expected rating on here, currently a 3.7 / 5. However, unsurprisingly, the most critical reviews turned out to be borne out of sheer ignorance about what this massive passion project of a mod was all about. You all realize that this is a full AAA game level mod, free of charge, that people have been working for free, on their free time, without getting paid?? So, before posting critical reviews that reveal your IQ, think about the above. Fallout London team, thank you for bringing us this gem! I am also lowkey curious how Bethesda handle the publicity of this mod, which may very well be better than their own version of the game... We shall see.
I have waited patiently for this game to be made available on GOG, or basically any other DRM-free way. I am no longer buying games unless they are DRM-free. I am simply tired of paying money to "own" a copy of something but not actually owning it. You can sell games on any other platform all you want. You will not have my money until it is sold DRM-free. I appreciate Fallout 4 being here now, but it is nearly a decade after its release. I sure hope Starfield will make it here MUCH MUCH sooner. Trust me, I want to support you for making these games, and I will. On my terms.
Expectations have always been the enemy. Big part of me wishes they hadn't hyped the game this much... My biggest criticism is that CDPR tried to release on old-gen consoles in the first place! This game is meant to be played for the next 10-20 years. All you did is drag the game down by trying to "back-date" it. I apologize but old-gen console owners were NOT meant to play this game. In addition to what mainstream reviewers already had to say, I will only add a few more things. If this game wants to be a truly customizable experience - which you would expect from an RPG - here are some things I personally expect it to deliver in the future via DLCs etc: 1) A LOT more customization for vehicles/weapons/gear/AND housing! Basically everything you can own in the game. Also, INCREASE the number of things we can own by a very large margin! 2) Speaking of housing, how about incorporating a 'base-building' system where, as a Nomad, we can build a place of our own? A lot of people dismiss or dislike this concept, but this is what brings me back to Fallout 4 time after time despite its many other flaws! I can actually build my own world in that game, even if it's a tiny part of the existing universe that devs built! And guess what? I'm going back to it now for the next year, while I wait for CP2077 to get fixed. 3) Also, there is something about the game in its current state that does not satisfy a hoarder like me... Playing the game felt wasteful to me in terms of in-game resources. I don't know if this will make sense to most people here. Just my style... Can't think of anything else right this moment, but we are here to support you CDPR! I know this game can top the Witcher 3! Please make sure it does. There is so much potential!
