I had more fun with this than I expected even though there's a lot of issues with 90's game design logic like going into menus constantly to swap spells and weapons. Tons of hit detection issues as well. But the positives are that it was plenty playable and presented a unique and enjoyable story and world. Very keen to play Soul reaver next. Also like most games of this era it didn't take 99999 hours to complete and that's always a big plus.
It's a hard game to describe without just saying it's like Jet Set Radio. It oozes style, is plenty fun, has an interesting story and looks great. Only wish there was voice acting and maybe some more variety in mission types. Can't wait to see what the team does next whether a sequel or something else!
It's overall a pretty basic shooter. Fun enough but nothing exceptional. Where it really shines is its reverence to the source material. It's clear a lot of love was put into it and that love does a lot of the heavy lifting for what is otherwise a rather average experience which gives it an extra star.
