This was one of my favorite games of that era. A decent side scrolling platform game that requires near perfect timing of jumps and shots. It is a cute little series with some good wit and game play but don't expect much as the graphics are not enhanced in any way nor is the sound. Also, it should be noted that this is not a complete series. We are missing Keen Dreams ep 3.5 and Aliens Ate My Babysitter ep 6. With that being said it is still worth the very small price.

This game has been on my wish list for quite a while, even though I own it on CD. Although this distribution isn't perfect, when it runs, it's beautiful. After all this time it is still one of a very short list of the best PC racers around. I wanted to play this on my travel Alienware netbook running 64 bit Windows 10 Pro, that has a Core i7, 16GB Ram, and Nvidia GT540m but it crashes nonstop. When it finally did work, it would only work at or lower than 800x600 and it looked terrible. Even when it did work it was not playable and it seems like the norm is for it to consistently crash and only rarely run for even a short while. I tried everything I could think of to get it to work, but nothing seemed to fix the issue. Ironically, it runs flawlessly at 1080p on a Dell SFF workstation Core2 Quad, 4GB Ram, and a Radeon HD 5450 running 32 bit Windows 10 Pro. I also tried it on a Bartop arcade system with a Core i3, 16GB Ram, and a Radeon R7 250, running 64 bit Windows 10 Pro. At a native resolution of 1366x768. Once again, it ran flawlessly and the graphics were clear and crisp. Circumstantial or not, AMD seems to be the winner on this game for me. Although, it isn't preferred since I bought this game to play on my netbook which should be more than enough to run this game. I highly doubt that NVidia is a bust on this game and the real issue is out there just waiting to be found. I also noted on the two machines that could actually run this game, it did not work well with my joysticks. One joystick is a USB corded XBox 360, and the other an after market Nintendo 64 USB corded controller. Neither would configure properly so I reverted back to keyboard only. Back in the day I used a Gravis Gamepad for this game and remember how choppy it would make the turns. It would be nice to have it working with a modern controller. Shadows of the Empire works perfectly with the XBox controller. Wink wink GoG. The game itself is stellar even after nearly 20 years. It has always been a configuration nightmare but I really did expect a bit more from GoG so hopefully they will tweak this and get it working for everyone in the 1.1 Hotfix release of the game. Regardless, even with the crashes it is worth 4 stars and I do not regret purchasing the GoG treatment.

I played Wolfenstein 3D a lot during my early college years so when this first released in 1994, still in college I made the mistake (for sake of my studies) to buy this game and try it out on my recently purchased 486 with STB 2D graphics and Sound Blaster sound card. Well 23 years later and I still love Doom, in fact it may very well be my favorite PC game. If it isn't, then I am not sure why I own so many copies on various platforms, even all the original boxes. The fast pace, the weapons, the monsters/demons, the progressing storyline without need of narration. The golden age of computers may have passed but at least we will always have Doom. The unbelievable amount of mods and levels out there is a testament to this game. Even the graphics are really not a hinderance, you get this whole experience from the game through the low res sprites and the quirky midi music. I have introduced younger generations to this game and I have yet to hear any criticism, or calling out dumb graphics or dumb game. They've all loved it. I am still in awe when I play this and Doom 2 on just how complex the maps are. I remember wandering around for hours at a time on a single level looking for every single secret place. Hours well spent "taking breaks" from studying.

I was very excited to see this title on GOG and I hope that means that Rebel Assault 1 and 2, Shadows of the Empire, and I hate to admit it... the Pod Racer game will be coming soon. This game reminds me of a great time in my life and I can't wait to play this again. This is truly what I come out to GOG for and once again I am not let down. I have always been a casual gamer, only spending a few hours a week playing. However, this was a game that I would go back to a great deal, except this time it is not just a demo.

I thought, what the heck, I'll peruse GOG as I'm logging off from work and I see Lucas games. Thank you GOG. I loved X-Wing and Tie Fighter way too much back in the day. Sure the graphics are very antiquated in these games, so what. As far as a space simulator goes, these games are stellar, all puns intended. I hope you get the add ons as well. Keep adding those games guys.
