Probably the 3rd time in my life I've played a game and said "GOTY, no contest" with the previous two being Final Fantasy 7 and Breath of the Wild. The writing is the best I've ever come across, shifting perfectly from punching you in the gut to making you laugh out loud to making to really, really think about your ideology and how it materially impacts the world beyond the bubble you live in. This game is literally going to make every other one I've been looking forward to in the near future like ashes in my mouth. That is my only serious critique of it. The removal of horrible CRPG combat schemes that noboby actually ever liked (look up any CRPG and find a hundred threads dedicated to gaming the combat so you didn't have to worry about it) is fantastic and don't let anybody tell you otherwise. A lot of the complaints are that it's basically a visual novel, to which my reply is "no it really isn't" and "the fact of the matter is that all detective games are basically visual novels by this standard"
