I really enjoy the tactile feel of this game. Instead of just gaining new receipes you create your own by mixing ingredients to travel to spots on a map. This allows for endless creativity and alternatives when you're out of certain ingredients. This exploration and improvisation with ingredients truly make this a uniquely enjoyable experience.
This is an early 4X game with a midevil theme that's simple nostalgic fun. You engage in simple management of your counties, through a surprisingly complex real time battle system, and a turn based castle siege system. The real time battle system attempts to have a rock/paper/sissors unit structure but it doesn't really make a big difference to the outcome. You can swindle the cpu at times through clever use of the terrain, but mostly larger numbers win. Overall I recommend this game as a classic of it's time. I enjoyed the game when it came out as a kid and I still enjoy it's simple, yet engaging gameplay today.
