Massive disappointment. By now, I guess I shouldn't even have to tell you since it's all over the place how boring the game is, but what's more sad is that a game that came out 30 years ago did it better with far less. Starflight had 800 unique planets, 13 unique races of aliens to interact with and build relations/conflict, different starships, great resource management, mining, etc. and an actual story to unravel. How is it that a game that required like 1MB of RAM and 48MB of HDD space can outdo a similar game in 2016? All of the expectations set for this game were accomplished on something capable of running on a Sega Genesis, yet the devs say our expectations were too high. Really, outside of updating graphics, music, and procedurally generated worlds/animals there wasn't a whole lot of work needed to be done here that wasn't already done before in Starflight. And sadly, they failed at all but the music aspect. Do yourself a favor and just go buy the Starflight 1+2 pck here on GOG. You won't have the graphics and music but you'll have the everything else.

This game is beautiful, especially considering it's an indie title. The water-coloring (and I think I spy some pastels) looks fantastic. The gameplay is a little like Grandia or Lunar, with a Suikoden-like story and character style, and maybe a little Saga Frontier in there too (at least the multiple storylines/character selection thing). For the price, you can't go wrong. It natively supports the Xbox 360 controller too, so that's a plus for me. And for those who care: It's not random battles (thus the Lunar reference). If you like classic JRPGs, give it a whirl...you might be surprised.
