The only ARPG worth playing right now. Deep 2 class system with 100s of builds to play any way you like. Between skill points, equipment, and devotion points, you can make insane builds, such as non stop meteor showers from one ability proccing off another in a chain reaction that doesn't stop until all enemies are dead. Buy it, do yourself a favor.
Don't know how this game has "mixed" reviews on Steam, I had a ton of fun with it. It has a campaign that is decent enough for a city builder and the visuals are terrific. The mechanics are easy to understand and fun once you get a hang of it.
While the game as a stand-alone is not a 5-star game, the fact that no one else has made a game (that I know of) similar is what makes it great. It is essentially a complex resource-management game and 1st person "shooter" where you fight by drawing color on an enemy or drawing multiple different types of glyphs. Everything you do in the game to mining, growing color in trees, giving the Sisters color, effects the game world. The character's are all voice-acted and the story is extremely bleak, but very compelling. One word of note, this game is extremely difficult and some of the complexities of the resource system are hard to understand. I restarted the game 3 times because of wasting all my color due to not understanding the mechanics correctly. Also, I downloaded an Easy version (just changes some XML settings) since the game gives no option for difficulty. I highly recommend reading this guide: https://www.gamefaqs.com/pc/970707-the-void/faqs/62846, which also has the link to download the Easy/Medium versions in the Introduction. I wouldn't say follow the guide step-by-step, because that takes a lot of the fun out of it. You want something insanely unique, give this gem a try - has had me up in the wee hours of the night for a week now.
This game was quite the experience. Running at about 5 hours, it is rather short, so it's hard to recommend at $20 - $10-$15, I would easily recommend it. Nevertheless, it's an experience you won't forget. I will say I recommend it much more to parents with small children than to the younger audience. The sound is amazing, the atmosphere is chilling, the puzzles are decent, and the sets are gorgeous. Teddy is an excellent plot device that drives the player forward and the "enemy" is pretty terrifying, especially if you consider that you are suppose to be a 2-year-old. The only cons I could find with it is some of the polys/textures could have been better done considering how close you are to the ground at all times and also it could be frustrating to find your way back to the starting point after completing an objective. 4/5 - a great experience, but for 5 hours of gameplay with no replayability, needs to be cheaper. SPOILERS AHEAD! Whether this is commentary on how women tend to get child custody even when not fit is an interesting thought. Teddy is the child's only friend which was a present from the father. The mother is the nightmare that is chasing him in his dreams and she is seen at the bottom of a bottle at the end. Then the father comes to save the day and the game ends. Now telling your two-year-old you don't want to get angry and enough is enough and then being depressed and drinking doesn't automatically make a bad parent. She is struggling, as do most parents (myself included). But once again, we have to look at this through the eyes of a 2-year-old. If Daddy is always nice and Mommy struggles to raise the child, of course the Dad will look better, even if it's the mother who has primary custody and all the responsibility. I feel like this game invoked a lot of thought with the ending and I know personally, it made me re-examine the way my toddler and baby perceive me on the days that are harder to be a good parent.
