I got this game from a random game deal over Christmas so I wasn't expecting much. When I first started up the game I was greeted by single-digit framerates and a game that even in pre-rendered cutscenes overheated my laptop. If you have Windows 10 or 8, this game will look and run like garbage unless you patch it (link at bottom). Once this is done, however, you will be greeted by one of the most atmospheric and enjoyable FPSs out there. The weapons feel satisfying to use and the game is fast paced and frantic. If I had to think of a comparison, I would compare it to a more focused, more refined version of QUAKE. Gone are the horrible first-person platforming sections, the terrible "puzzles" and the unpolished visuals and UI and Unreal brings in intuitive controls, an actually helpful UI and ditches the platforming. Admittedly, it does have its flaws. Many of the enemies feel like bullet-sponges and can be tedious to fight and sometimes the visuals don't quite age as well as the gameplay. Despite these flaws, Unreal remains a must-buy for any fans of QUAKE, DOOM and other classic shooters. Win 10 patch http://www.oldunreal.com/oldunrealpatches.html
