The Inheritance of Crimson Manor

Homage to safecracker, with a story

Immersive, bit of mystery, plenty of medium and mediocre puzzles, working hinting system, bit wonky in performance department and troubling controls. The last parts feel a bit rushed. Buy on sale. Shouldn't take longer than two evenings to finish.

Alien Breed: Impact

Nice alien shooter

The comic cutscenes, the audio and combat system are quite nice. It gets quite repetative though, a lot of go there, switch that. There is little interaction with environment. The story isn't that convincing. Audio is dark enough for the presented scenario however. A few fights are bit more challenging, other than that it's repetition. Even though the game isn't that long, it can feel much longer at times.

Overclocked: A History of Violence

Bit predictable

It's a pretty predictable story, especially if you've played a few adventure games. It's not bad, but nothing superlative either. Mechanics are okay. What is annoying is the UI and search for appropriate passages on the PDA to play back. You can skip the text sequences, since they're repetitions from flashbacks and still get a confirming suggestion from main character that that was the correct one. It's a nice touch how unfair the treatment towards the main character is. There are some plot holes, and more work could have been done in all areas, but overall it's a pleasent experience.

Yesterday

Short, not a waste of time

It's a short adventure game, that has some interesting story aspects, but is neither very surprising, nor very innovative. There was much more to explore with time mechanics, a missed opportunity. Some QoL mechanisms however are good. The pacing is fine, the overall story and its telling however is relatively weak. Not sure why, but the installation from galaxy left me with no sound through certain sequences, probably a missing codec. That's on GOG most likely, this should be dealt with by default by the installer.
