If you have the patience to endure the glitches in this one, it's an enjoyable game. On the plus side...I liked the hints received from interacting with the many other characters. On the minus side...instead of walking directly up to another character standing right next to yours to speak to them, your character will often wander all around the screen before doing so, and sometimes will forget what you told them to do in the process of their wandering and you have to reissue the command. If you can live with this flaw, it's a decent game.

...and just as fun. Sailing around the Caribbean, raiding towns, seizing ships, fighting a dual to win the hand of the Governer's daughter, playing the English, Dutch, French and Spanish off against one another to gain land and titles from multiple countries...what's not to love here? My only complaint would be the combat on land where I can't seem to move more than one group in unison. Overall though, a bargain for the hours of fun you'll have. A lot of replayability too, with multiple skill levels and scenarios.

If they made an animated move using this plot, I'd watch it! Brilliant and unique story line, first rate voice acting and graphics, and some fun and clever puzzles make this one a calssic. The only thing holding this back from a 5/5 is a handful of puzzles whose solutions are so obscure, that they detract from enjoyment of the game. Overall though, good fun.

...but in a good way. Overall a great story line, wonderful voice acting and liked the animation...just a good looking game. Enjoyed most of the puzzles, but some of the solutions are so obscure that I had to cheat in a few spots. I'm up for a challenge, but some of the solutions are just so challenging as to be plain frustrating rather than fun. NEVER would have solved some of them. Overall though, a fun game with some good comic relief and worth buying.

Played this one about 30 years ago, too often late into a school night. Enjoying the chance to revisit this game.
