If you liked the base game you will thoroughly enjoy this add on. The new content integrates really well with the base game Night City. Lots of action-packed missions, choices, new cyberware, weapons, an new district of Night City, new ending. You get to meet Mr. Hands! What's not to like? The story is good, you have to make a choice of questionable morality with imperfect information. I only wish there was more of Johnny's presence. The weakest part is Idris Elba, just because I don't really like him, but that's personal and he does a decent job as Reed. It's not perfect, though. In typical fashion some of the novel mechanics are underutilized. Remember the Basilisk? Brain Dances? I was thirsting to do more, but you won't in Phantom Liberty. Even the new mechanic you only get to do twice and I wish I could bring it to other gigs. There is also a problem with some of the sounds. I hope it will be fixed, but some of the dialogue sounds like it was recorded in a tunnel, and there are other glitches too. Cyberpunk with New Liberty is a complete experience and well worth the money.

I am a big fan of the Stargate universe and would love a decent game using those characters and worlds. This game however, is just not it. I'm not saying it's a bad game, it's just not of a type that I enjoy playing. My opinions are based on the demo, so things could change, but I doubt the basic gameplay would be altered in any significant way. Just be aware of what it is, a real time isometric, multi-character, stealth tactics, rpg. Lots of mouse clicking to be done at just the right time. Not FPS (or TPS), turn-based tactics, not strategy, or (thankfully) not cards. The short time I spent with the demo frustrated me, though I liked the characters, and was looking forward to the story. My advice is to find the demo and if you enjoy it then this is a buy, if nothing else than to support the genre.

I played this on Steam years ago. It had a lot of potential, but ultimately fell short of anyone's expectations. I'm actually surprised to see it on GoG now. I really couldn't recommend it as everything about it is kind of half-baked. If the developers had spent another year adding content and polish it would be good. Graphics are mediocre and repetitive. Starting on a colony ship in orbit about to crash the player escapes to a planet and must gather, mine, and craft to survive. Materials are scattered across different randomized biomes forcing the player to roam to find what is necessary. Structures are all created with prefab parts crafted with components and raw materials. The meager story is told through data caches found on in vehicle wrecks and structures. One must gather rare mats to complete the story, and once I did I had no desire to play again. While there exists indigenous lifeforms, there isn't a need for combat at all. The devs reluctantly added a gun towards the end. The best part of this game is the ability to create any kind of vehicle, even though the physics could be wonky depending on your design. There exists an exploit to make flying vehicles really fast by using a wheel mechanism. It's a bug, but it's still there, and because the game is abandoned will never be fixed. If you like building things you might get some enjoyment out of it, but there are far better alien survival games available.
