I played these games back in the DOS days. The sound was decent at best and for the time, the graphics were good. Raven Software has brought new life into these games! They are 100% the origonal game brought into 2025 (year of this review). The music can be either the origonal or a newley recorded revamp of the origonal and it sounds extremely good. The graphics are reworked in a good way, and mechanics are much smoother. I can play with native controller support and evrything is just so much more fluid. 100% reccomend this one!
The mechanics are really fun. The game is worth the price and generally speaking a lot of fun. The turn based strategy is interesting and the mistakes dire. Now to the stuff I don't like. The music layers onto itself sometimes very unpleasantly. I'm going to guess a fix for this is coming up some time (haven't looked at the roadmap). The clicking gets teadious. I don't want to have to click every time the elder has a vision or whatever, just get to it. At first it was cute but after reading the same dialog for the 50th time, not so cute. Clicking the skip button can also take just as long. The problems, to me anyway, seem easily fixable so that's why the title. This game has serious potential alone for the mechanics and the blends of genres. Definately worth the time.
This is a really fun base building strategy game. The graphics are usually what I don't like about colony games burt this one hits it. Some elements are hand drawn and others are really nicely done. There are still some mechanics that could be more enjoyable and improved but hey, it's early access. It's worth the price imo.
