Game over

This is one of the worst games I have ever had the misfortune to experience. First of the controls, like many reviews already pointed out they are horrible. Even if you play it with a gamepad, which is the only way to actually enjoy this game somehow. But if you want to play this game without one, or don't have one, then you are utterly screwed. Because the control are not precise as they need to for some of the QT events. Looking and finding hotspots is a pain in the ... simply because you can't just scan the screen with your mouse but by moving the camera. Which means you have to move the character around and then move the camera to find any hotspot. Anyway, the real issue are the so called interactions. This is where this game truly and utterly suck. I made it to the 3rd act where you find a dead girl in the basement. You have to investigate the scene and then it switches to the spirit world. Here you have to investigate her dead further BUT you only have a limited time to do so because the girl turns into a zombie and kills you. There are NO visual indications why this happens nor are there ANY guides how to procede. You just end up dead without any clue whatsoever. Maybe I am to stupid or old to get passed this scence but in all honesty this is just really, really bad game design. I can't or won't even review any other thing this "game" has to offer because quite I don't care anymore. This game is just BAD. Do not buy it. And the worst part is that this game comes from a very renowed studio that made The Books of unwritten tales and Raven, three excellent adventures. Sad just sad!

Dragon Age™: Origins - Ultimate Edition

The game that almost topped Baldurs Gate

I keep this rather short. This is the one game, when it was released that came very close to its great ancestor in terms of modern RPGs, Baldur's Gate II. The best thing you can do is to buy this great package and enjoy hundreds of hours this gem has to offer. But why does it only almost top BG? Well it lacks the depth of the original in my opinion. The Story has its flaws and the character system is a bit overburdened, it also focuses a bit too much on items. And the characters, while excellent on its own, don't have the same depth to it. Only few games that followed can claim the same thing and of course it is by far still the best Dragon Age of the series because it focus on the core mechanics of the genre and not on the eye candy.

Trine 2: Complete Story

simply magical

There are few games that truly deserved to be called a Masterpiece. This game is one these rare titles. The controls are very precise and there a quite a bit different skills you can use to overcome the many challenges in the game. And the combination of fighting, solving puzzles and moving through the levels is not perfectly executed but also very entertaining. There is a lot to discover and a lot of the puzzles have different solutions. It is truly a very polished game. But there is more! Gorgeous graphics, fantastic music, world that feels like a fairy tale, quirky humour, interesting heroes and villains. I could go on and on but it's simply best if you find out yourself why this game is a masterpiece. So buy it and have fun!

Memoria

Excellent Story, good gameplay

I just finished the game and I am really impressed with the story. Not only is Sadjas part well written but also the connection to the first game, Chains of Satinav, is fantastic. And I don't just mean the adventures of Geron and Nuri. For me it was just like playing one game with 2 big chapters. The gameplay itself is good but sometimes a bit too easy for my taste. It doesn't hurt the game much but if you are looking for a game with challenging puzzle you might get disappointed. On the other hand there are a few very fun puzzles that doesn't just resolve around combining items. Overall it is an adventure that I can only recommend to anyone who enjoys these kind of games, even if its just once in a while.

Severance: Blade of Darkness

The Dark Souls of the Past

This is one of the games that has a very hard accessibility but ones you managed to learn how to move around and fight you will be rewarded with a very intense experience. It is in every aspect the predecessor of Dark Souls if you will. It is the journey of a hero against all odds. It is hard and you will die, lots of times. But still you press on because you want to see what comes next. The story is well executed, even if it's mostly standard by todays expectations . It's a perfect Dark Fantasy setting in a fascinating world. But the real gem is the combat system! It's the typical move and hit style you see in so many other games. It's a combination of standard moves and special attack. Every weapon has one special attack and there are a couple of basic attacks that comes with each type of weapon. You have to use key combinations to execute these attacks. It is rather hard to master but it's rewarding, it's even fair once you know how to handle each weapon. And the result is a perfect combat system that you simply don't see these days. It is also a brutal game, heads will fly and you literally chop up every opponent into pieces. But it feels so damn great to win a battle, every single time. :) This is a game that really deserves a chance! I loved every second of it back when I played it.
