MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries

Half-done. Mods will not fix all

I played Mechwarrior/Commander and BATTLETECH 2018. From macro perspective MW5 looks closer to BATTLETECH but made much worse. Pros - Mech visual, combat, weapon sound effects. - Optimization Cons - Combat. -- Sensor logic: enemy units highlight bleeps from any range. Yet tend to lose sensor signal even in direct line of sight(and thus waste your missile barrages). Tank shoots you and you can't have missile lock on it. -- Can't give move order on map, so for lance control you have to be on top of something. Same for air strikes - useless -- 2x maximum zoom - bye-bye long range combat. - Combat maps. On minimap looks like MMO procedurally generated arenas, rather than pice of real terrain. By visual is the same: black moon desert with no atmosphere and suddenly square of skyscraper city in the middle of nowhere; tons of randomly created annoying rocks; mountains, forming pipelike gaps. - Music. This is 3rd of 300+ played games, where I preferred to turn it off. - Base development. None. You have Leopard and that's it. - Mech customization. Totally broken. You will never get to situation, when there is not enough space for modules. No more specialized setups, like 2 gauss Marauder sniper or Madcat missile platform. Feels like MMO grinder optimization. -- Weapon slots locked not only to type, but also to size of weapon. Weapon have 5(6) grades. So in most of times you stick to basic set, just upgrading tiers. -- Heat sinks have very little effect. Heat management is broken -- poor set of additional modules - Story. -- Characters visual and animation like in TES/Fallout 3: stone bodies open mouth sometimes. -- No personalities, just puppets with missions for you. And this is with so personal main plot driver. -- Awful voice acting. -- Pilots portraits better fit to Brigador universe. -- No random events - Global map. Reputation logic is broken. Conclusion: - for story, characters and macro play BATTLETECH - for combats - MW: online

Carmageddon: Max Damage

Not worth even on sales

TL;DR: this game is somehow managed to take worse form all parts and add its own bad things. I'm not than insanely picky gamer type and usually ignore the minor flaws of games, like "too short", "not much content".. e.t.c. Especially for indie projects. But this game is somehow managed to take worse form all parts and add its own bad things 1st Carmageddon presented us dark grim ambient and awesome soundtrack. C: MD took fancy colorful pallet form part 2. Soundtrack. If you don't noticing it - I consider it good. But here it's literraly annoyng. And this is part, that annoy me extreamly rearely. There is about 2 old track from p.1, but this just deciving you 2nd Carmageddon: Carpocalypse introduced cool funny usable powerups; insane level design with secrets, that I really wanted to exploer; advanced damage model; and missions. Missions was not always plesant part, but it gave us some challenge and storyline. C: MD: 1) Powerups presend, but it so much overloaded. And it so annoying to switch them durnign the race in attempr to find what you actually need. And you have to swthc everytime you picking up andother one. For instance. We had pedes zapper and springer. First effective, second is fun. Here in addition we have attractor, remote exploder(how?), decapitatior, hands decapitatior, legs decapitatior, 2 types of thrower up. And no hotkey for favorate powerups! 3td Carmageddon TDR2000 introduced timelimits(although 2 mis cap was painfull) and gave more reason to race and gave more challange. Also even bigger awesome maps, storyline and lots new cars. C: MD - no challenge. More bad things: 1) Physics. Welp, it is much more realistic. In fact too much. Because ot truthful cars geometry you will always slide off in attampts to ram. 2) AI is stupid but annoying. 3) Pinky mors instead of blood. Bad sound of peds killing. No bloodi tire trails. Make carnage tottally boring. 4) Crappy sens of humor. Cows in protective suites and disabled peds all over maps - com on!

The Final Station

Very immersive storytelling expirience

Very immersive. It has captive storyline that leaves you more questions and guesses, than answers. Music is awesome. Retro graphic used just right. Lots of small details in environment makes you fill this is for real. This game was made with soul. Controls are smooth. Its not complex. But also not making you feel like if you fight with game mechanic. Bit short. The train mechanic seems to have lot more potential in mind. Probably author feared not to finish the game. Or maybe because this is his first game making experience. All game was done by 2 men: one artist/game designer and one developer. Anyway, game is long enough to tell all the story and and short enough not to get bored. This game is about story and immersion. Not about RPG, grind, useless stuff collecting, far-fetched replayability... you know, all this modern stuff to make you play games longer, than you actually should and interested.
