CP2077 is a great game with lots of love to the world. I wish some characters were added as the love interest in this game weren't that great tbh. But with the release of phantom liberty - everything you could want was there but it is unfortunate the meme of this game has not gone away from the public consciousness. Nevertheless the game is great and the gameplay is awesome.
I really enjoyed the DLC of the phantom Liberty (PL) DLC and the story is fantastic. The new patch also brings a lot of new gameplay aspects but story first. The story involves you going to Dog Town; a new area within Night City. It represents all the BAD aspects of Night City and it shows with the debris, stealing, murder, gangs and people just wanting to get out. The story involves you saving the NUES President and getting trapped within a spy game. It is very similar to a James Bond Film. The themes from the main story is very apparent within the DLC of workers vs corperations, humanity vs machines. These themes bleed into story of how even soliders working in the spy game get eventually screwed over. The PL DLC is NOT an expansion and should be seen as a DLC within the middle of the story of the main game. The ending from the PL is a BAD ending, like mid game ending. CDPR didn't let the characters go to waste either as all of them have their own personality, motivations and goals. They really stepped up their game and I really liked how your choices with each character really had an impact on them. Huge Props their because it breaks a lot of status quo games convention. Im going to have a new play through with the new netrunner build to change things. But congrats to CDPR to the fantastic DLC.
The game is great so far but needs more time to fix with the code. I will try to break down a lot of bad and great things. The game in its current form is not great but needs more fixes to be great. If you give this game another 3-6 months, it will be worth your money and time. At the moment there needs to be a lot of fixes as the scripting, graph glitches and models need to be corrected. The scripting needs more polish with the AI doing crazy things. and spawning where they shouldn't spawn. In my game, I cannot pickup any mats or items from mechs or bots. I had a lot of bugs with spawn of enemies not going or doing where they're suppose to be. This happens a lot with a lot ofa lot of quick save and reloading with enemies being stuck in doorways. The music is great - big props to the composers. The graphics are awesome. Again glitches with clothing happens and can remove your immersive experience.
The talk about Senua Sacrifica in the media is often mixed, and I entered the game blindly without any assumptions. Just for clarification- the permdeath idea that has been spreading is absolutely false and is only talked about in the game to keep you on edge. With that said, I was cautious about having a female protagonist being the center of the game with the current social, especially in Western countries to focus on everything female is good, and everything else is bad - However, this game isn't that and isn't about that in any shape or form. It focuses and symbolizes much deeper issues that everyone, I think knows themselves personally, or at least knows a friend or family member that has suffered from a form of mental illness, and with the main theme is, of course, how Senua handles her psychosis. They're other themes with religion, relationships and family, but it all ties into mental illness and how issues with family, relationship or religious conflict feeds into mental illness or in this game, Senua's psychosis. This game was extremely ambishious to begin with and I applude Ninja Theory to develop this game with the ideas it had without it making more generic to capture a greater audience. The writing is sharp, and plot was very well layed out with the games trying to actively show you what it is all about instead of telling you. The story is played with Norse Mythology and the history of the Pics in England during a very bloody, very nasty time period to be living in. The gameplay is fun to play without making it to boring, or monotonous with the actual swings, or actions actually feel a sense of heaviness to them. Senua's movement is similarly very well captured and is one of the few female characters that actually moves/acts to a warrior you'll expect on the battlefield during this time period. Highly Recommend this game. It is worth the price.
