Saints Row 2 is the game that set the series apart from GTA. Saints row proper was really just a copy paste of GTA with different characters, but in the sequel, they decided to really break the mold. Missions where you do goofy fun stuff like spraying sewage on houses to kill property values, radio shows that are obviously satire (which GTA would then copy in 4 and 5), and comical companions. It retains a lot of the gritty realism, but adds enough variety and humor to stand apart on its own. If you like open world games, you'll get a kick out of this one for sure.
This is a classic title that really set the tone for shooters going forward. THe cinematic stylization of this game is S tier and the presentation is perfect for the game. I have a few minor gripes, the looks dont hold up quite like i wish and the music can be a little repetitive at time but seriously, if you havent played it, you should. If you like shooters with intense action that requires far more than just 1. Hide behind cover 2. Pop out and shoot 3. Rinse and Repeat than this one is for you!
