Saints Row IV: Re-Elected

Original Game removed

The original game with LAN multiplayer was removed. Now I have to preserve the game on my own and resort to piracy if I lose the data in the future. DRM is great, but GOG keeps leaving random games in the dust and borking original verisons of games. Could be legal reasons, but either way its B.S.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition

restoring faith in humanity

Moments like this make you feel like your faith in humanity has been restored. Be nice if the original version was also added to the collection. Problem with all these remaster/remakes is I don't care for the file sizes and performance demands. I'd rather just run the original, save hard drive space and tax my system less.

Horizon Zero Dawn™ Complete Edition

Sony on GOG?

Shockingly we see Sony put a game on CDP's gog.com, well I'm all for it regardless. The PC port has horrible performance regardless of settings. I'm and ryzen 2700 and vega 56, when I change from medium to ultra has almost zero effect on FPS. Game is just stuck at 30-60 fps no matter what you do. When you drop down to 720p FPS still hovers around 30-60 fps. BTW that's on linux through vk3d3. The game is roughly 1080p 60 high on vega with frame drops on windows. Controller works on windows 10 for me, but not on linux. Your controller may not work even on windows 10. The issue originates from windows, but details on what the issues is nearly unknown. People have found a fix using steam settings or an xbox 360 emulator, but that's not the source of the issue. Something is up with the game that allows it to detect and trigger controller settings. Currently I unfortunetly don't know how to get the controller working on linux without steam. Though I know it's theoretically possilbe for somebody with the know how. As typical with gog release, reviews only need to discuss the technically failings of the gog release, but we still get drm-free goodness which is worth pain because we like the pain.

The Surge 2

you coul even say better then soulslike

I started with Demons Souls and have played the whole series. I've sampled Lords of the Fallen and The Surge. The Surge 2 combat instantly feels better then Deck13's other attempts. Loot/Upgrading is arguably better then soulsborne. I didn't even care about progession in the first area because I was just looting because the game has so much useful loot that you actually use. I got an armor set that now let's me dismember without using the power bar. You might call this game funsouls. Game is hard, but fair likely easier then newer soulsgames and more off a demons souls and dark souls difficulty except with much better progession where you don't feel the need to grind and in some way's grinding is fun in this game. You will instantly feel at home when you face the dual like intro boss and you'll notice a lion like robot that you will likely fight later. I'm even starting to spark and eye at the story. The story basically seems to be about A.I. having caused things to change on earth and now factions have formed with different views like A.I. is an abomination or A.I. is are savior or that we should merge and acsend. I'm currently at a camp where the church like leader believes humans and machine must merge to attain eternal life or something. Earlier I ran into another camp that was hostile and likely trying to restore order. Game seems a bit like a soulslike with elex faction system just less open world. The game also as been sporting a lot of shortcuts and I've yet to run into fast travel nor have I had the interest in using fast travel. I'm guessing technical issue's have to do with the vulkan api the developers have used and they're lack of experience in using a challenging api. I'm my end however I'm running linux and using wine with Proton 5.0. The game runs not with dxvk, but actual vulkan in wine and runs without issue. Also runs great because Linux/AMD love vulkan. This game is exremely underrated, I highly recommend.
