Played it a lot as a kid, was quite happy to see it actually holds up. It is simple, but it does no wrong and doesn't waste your time. It's fun, it's good. Don't believe I've had as good of a time with any other twinstick shooter.
And easily at that. There is so much more vigor in terms of design and vision here than I've seen in YEARS. If you like your elder scrolls and your gothic's and whatever else, this is just the cream of the crop right now. I feel no need to go into further detail but I will say the hardcore mode does this game a great favor by extending the early-game period where you're afraid of peasants with a pitchfork and hole up in town trying to learn the mechanics. Is it the best gaming can get? Obviously not, but I look at things with a "What's the alternative?" point of view. And if you want an immersive rpg, what else are you gonna play? Cyberpunk? A gem.
