Pretty good. I personally don't get the super cult following some people have for it, but I do get why lots of people like and love this game. It's very atmospheric (it's biggest strength IMO), has good chunky shooting with good balance (ON NORMAL/CUSTOM), and the enemies are all fun to fight. The level design I think also manages to be really captivating. The art style is cool, clearly influenced by QUAKE, but the enemy designs lean harder into the fantasy stuff, and the weapons lean way harder into the techy stuff. Speaking of, I love the chaingun here. It does great damage, looks dope, and has an awesome sound to boot. It was my go to for most larger enemies/larger fights. I also like the level design; you go through lots of different places, all of which I think manage to feel interesting despite the game being mostly corridors and mazes. I also enjoy how cryptic it can be, because I think that works for a game as short as this. All 4 episodes are thematically different, and I think the game peaks around episodes 2 and 3 (Egypt and Medieval times respectively). Though, if you wonder why I rated this only 3 stars, it's because the game is simply good. Realistically, I'd rate it like 3.3 or 3.4, but GOG doesn't do half stars I guess. But yeah, everything is good, but it stops there. Despite that, however, I'd still recommend it, because the atmosphere fills a very specific niche, which I highly enjoy, and in a way it makes the game feel cozy. I do have two criticisms though: episode 4 and hard mode. Episode 4 is kind of a downgrade, which sucks because it immediately follows the 2 best episodes. There's less enemy types, the level design isn't as good, and even the encounters are kind watered down. It's still fine, though, there's enjoyment to be had. Hard mode, on the other hand, just SUCKS. Enemies now have extra health, which RUINS the pacing. Use either Normal or Custom mode! But yeah, I would highly recommend this overall, even if it's not amazing.
