Amazing

I felt like Randolph Carter, going to strange lands and states of being to acquire knowledge and elevation. The "feel" of this game is that of living a Lovecraft story. Amazing work Devs - you should be truly proud of this ! Now onto Transient !

All Time Best 4x

As it is said "They don't make them like this anymore". Combine Dune and 40k and put it into a 4x Turn Based Strategy game with great Diplomacy, Resource Management and Combined Arms combat across Land, Air, Sea and Space and you get Emperor of the Fading Suns. My play time on this title is more than Stellaris, Endless Space 2 and Galactic Civilizations 3 combined. All of those titles are good but they suffer the great fault of almost all "modern" games - the lore and immersiveness is paper thin. EFS pulls you in from the first moment that the intro movie plays all the way to becoming Emperor of the Known Worlds. And now after 25 years HDI is actively developing and supporting it. Truly a good time to be a 4x gamer !

Excellent Work !!!

Ah GOG .... what can I say? You guys are Awesome ! First Chaos Gate and Final Liberation and now ROW ...... As promised in the Wish list - you published and I bought it. Looks good, sounds good and even ALt-Tabs fine and does not crash. Quite an accomplishment on an old game that could not even load the main menu properly from an old CD. Now ... if you were to re-publish Emperor of the Fading Suns .... life would be complete. ;) Thanks for your excellent work.

Excellent ....

I've played just about every 40k game available on electronic media since life and work forced me to scrap my miniature army years ago. Many games have had some entertaining features but nothing has ever captured the 40k atmosphere like Chaos Gate. Over the top, Dark, Epic, Fallen Science in a universe where there are no black and white forces. Even the Ultra Marines would level a whole village if it bore the smallest taint of Chaos. The voice acting here is spot on and the soundtrack features bombastic tracks that are fit to support the Emperor's Finest in their Crusade against the ultimate terrors from the Warp. - Great work GOG - you have given this all back to me. The game no longer grinds to a halt when throwing smoke grenades and the mouse flows freely. Crash to desktop is still a danger but this is because the original code was not meant for any sort of multi-tasking or modern video cards. Potential buyers - make sure your Anti-virus software is on silent mode and there are no other pop-up programs waiting to awaken. GOG - based on this performance and Final Liberation, I will toss $10 your way for Rites of War should you manage to get that project kicked off.
