Well-developed and varied combat mechanics, sufficient challenge to keep you occupied for multiple runs. I enjoyed the art style and narrative theme. I personally didn't feel the need to pick it up again after a successful run, though I might in the future. Would recommend, good price.
This one's fun lads. Despite a lackluster story and writing, the combat and mechanics are tight. Challenge scales well with location and you do get a visceral sense of weapon fire and impacts. NPC team management is less than ideal. Having some sort of independence setting for them, i.e. 'patrol this map sector' would be a nice improvement. Otherwise, the arena DLC was a hoot. Recommended.
Never played the first, so this is a review on the game's own merit. Very fun casual space combat game with a tight set of systems and satisfying gameplay loop. Story is not blowing me away, but this doesn't feel like a game that's trying to dazzle with narrative brilliance. It found its lane and rocks that well. Would recommend.
While not a new game, Battletech still holds up against leaders in the genre. It offers a rich setting with plenty of variation in mission and unit design. Combat is satisfying & visceral and progression feels rewarding. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys turn based tactics games.
