Well, it is just an arcade game, not a simulation. You fly around, shooting at other planes or at soldiers on the ground. If you like shooting-arcade-games it MIGHT be fine, but even for a shooter it is very hollow. The story is brought on by you writing in your diary. The missions feel repetative and are not challenging at all. Well, yes, it is a remake of an Amiga game - but the developers had the chance to make more out of it. Even on the Amiga this game felt more... serious. this version has no RPG-elements of any kind. You just follow mission after mission, which might have different "names" but still only consist of 4 or 5 different szenarions. Just let me tell you. It has nothing to do with Red Baron or Wings of fury. If you are fine with pointing your crosshair at a target and pressing the mousebutton - go ahead. i didn't like the game.
I love the concept of the game: Pure and simple strategy spacefights in realtime. I just love that I don't have to "design" ships and command every single one. I love that there is no micromanagement. Just pure tactics! But that's it. There is ONE campaigne, which ends pretty fast and has a very thin storyline. And there are scenarios you can play on multiple difficulties. But you gain nothing from playing against the KI. You can't level up, even if you realy trash the KI on hardest setting. The "heart" of the game seems to be the multiplayer mode. Problem is: There are NO players. No matter what time I enter the lobby, noone joins a game or has a game open to join. So, if you like pure tactics and a campaign that lasts barely an hour after you get the concept of the game - go ahead. Without Players for Multiplayer this game is only fun for 2 to 3 hours.
Well, if you do like tabeltop-trainsets this game will give you a few happy hours of play. But if you're more into the simulationpart, including economy, you will be disappointed. The game is so buggy it's barely fun at all. Also the singleplayer-szenarios get boring very quickly. After 10+ hours of play I found the following bugs: - Frequent crashes with Win10. Every 3 to 4 hours the game crashes on me. - Trains going crazy. As soon as you build a more complex network trains are going mad all over the map: - Trains are suddenly disappering and showing magically up on other parts of the map. - Trains not going on railroads, but somewhere in the open field, but this doesn't seem to happen often. - Trains not reaching their destination. Especially after buliding new tracks like doubling railsroads or buliding a new intersection trains suddenly change course and start going everywhere, but not to the scheduled destination. Of course this trains make no money. Sometimes it helps to cancel the train and set it up new. But even then the train might get "lost" after one or two deliveries. - Trains taking "new" and wired routes. All of a sudden a train on a connection that worked fine takes a new route and blocks other trains. Well with all that bugs it's not realy fun to play. This is definitely not the quality I'm expecting from a game with the name Sid Meier on it. Don't waste your money ond this game and get a classic copy of Railroad Tycoon!
Well I do like mellow, relaxing interactive novels - but this one seems like it has been put together in a hurry to make some quick money. Let me tell you why I don't like the game (spoiler ahead!): - It gets repetative, even the dialogues stay the same, no matter what decision you make. E.g. if you take a different class on a train you will still have mostly the same dialogues and story elements, even so the names of characters you meet change. - No real decisions. The storyline always keeps the same. Same places nearly always trigger the same part of the story. If you make a decision it only alters one or two sentences in the dialogues, before the story goes back to its mainline. Your decissions don't realy have an influence on the story. - Only a few graphics included. A few photos are included, nothing more. And the pics aren't even in HiRes. They look like something taken out of an early 80's comicbook. You won't realy see any of the places you are "visiting". If I had payed the full prize on this I'd have felt ripped off. Ok, the first two times I played it, it was a bit fun, so if you can get it at a reduced prize it might be a good investion for 1 or 2 hours of "play". But if you want a real interactive novel, where your decisions realy influence the later parts of your story you better get "80 days" here on GOG.
The game looks simple, but it doesn't feel easy to play. I played a few rounds, lost some, won one but don't know why. There is a tutorial where they tell you what button to click next, but they don't explain to you WHY you should or have to click that button. If you like "Adventure" games, where to find out which button combines with certain objects, go ahead. I consider this buy a waste of money...
Warning: To review I might have to spoiler a little bit! ------ Let's put the last first: This game is way too short for the price and the ending is disappointing. The studio seems to have been in a hurry making this game. The game itself is some fun: You have different episodes in which you solve different puzzles. You need to crack codes from easy to hard, have a little walking-simulator all mixed with a at-first spooky story which comes together while you advance. But you will be disappointed if you learn the story in the end... One major issue is, that you might not get past the first episode if you are too young and never played textadventures - even so the first two episodes are the most fun in my opinion. Atmosphere of the game is spooky and great (until the last episode), graphics and sound are good for an indie game - I liked it so far. It runs smothly without any problems on my end. So if you like puzzles and spooky games get it, when it is on sale. I wouldn't pay full price for it.
I normally like stealth-games but I just can't get into it. Even on Beginner-setting it seems to be more like a save-game-orgy than a sniper game. Every 2 steps I move I gotta save or else: Booom, Russians sweeping down on you out of nowhere. Also you only have limited saves per mission. Even after carefully surveiing the situation on the battlefield with no enemies to see anywhere, i get shot (and killed) instantly. This game is totally unforgiving, even in Beginner.Mode. The KI is very good so: Enemies move smart and quick. Graphics are nice considering the age of the game. I quickly got frustrated and will not touch it again.
I'm crazy about classic adventures and so I HAD to get this game... and I enjoyed it. The puzzles are solvable and a little bit of thinking will bring you through most times. Only one time I got stuck and wildly clicked the screen - untill I found the right position ;-). The story is great and the characteres all seem to have their own personality, voiceover is great! And I liked the often a bit cynical humor! Ok, the graphics look a bit... lets say "retro" and the game is quite short. Took me only 8 hours for a first playthrough. That is, why I only gave 4 stars. So far it seems to run stable and smoothly - no crashes or such. So If you liked Monkey Island I and II, Maniac Mansion and Zak McKracken - go ahead and get this game!
The tilte sounded good to me since I am crazy about scubbadiving. But this game has nothing to do with a simulation of scubadiving: -The O²-counter functions as a mere timer. Normally you use more air if you move around faster and if you're in deeper water. If you hit a stone or even soft sand, time gets deducted from your O²-timer as a punishment. -The diver uses his hands to swim around. In reality you have fins for that and are taught to NOT use your hands. -Your goal is to collect sealife like shells and sea stars as well as garbage and treasures. -You cannot interact with the underwater fauna. Even bigger creatures (beside sharks) are just for decoration. -You zap some objects with a lasergun or heal ill fishes with a healing beam... yeah... diving simulatior at it's best. You care for the fishes but take shells out of the ecosystem :-) -Sharks actively attack you, even if not provoked. The two stars are for the graphics only, which indeed look nice, but your diving area is very limited by underwater forcefields. Actually I believe that the developers have never done a single real dive before. This game is a collect-stuff-game, but in no way a simulator. If you're looking for a tranquli, relaxing game before bedtime - goahead! But don't expect a diving simulator. This game has as much to do with diving as a cow playing a piano... This was just a waste of money.
