As someone who grew up playing the original Croc, I can say with confidence that Argonaut have absolutely preserved the spirit of their 90s game. Everyone I've spoken to says the same thing: "it looks like it did in my memory". It's the definition of what a remaster, rather than a remake, should be. And aside from the nostalgia hit that so many of us are now enjoying, the actual game isn't bad either! Some of the platforming is genuinely tricky, and the game world has a real charm to it. The boss fights are nothing special, but the platforming, the characters and the music combine to make a really enjoyable experience. Old-style tank controls are preseved on the keyboard for those who want them (it feels crazy using arrow keys again to move instead of WASD!), but plug in a game pad and you've got proper modern camera controls to explore. If you're curious to see a piece of gaming history, and experience what it felt like to play on a CRT monitor (in a time before our eyes had seen HD graphics and the 640x480 looked pin-sharp), give this game a go. Kapow!!
