Undertale

PLAY THIS GAME NOW!!!

If you wanted to hold off on playing this truly excellent RPG just because it was on Steam, then you owe it to yourself to pick this up for its GOG rerelease! Undertale is hands down my favorite game of 2015, and I truthfully consider it one of the greatest--and certainly one of my favorite--games of all time! Story--Long ago, humans and monsters lived together in harmony, until war broke out between the two races. The humans, proving victorious, sealed the monsters underneath the earth behind an impenetrable barrier--anything can enter the barrier, but nothing can leave. Many years later, in the year 201X, you play as a lone human child who falls through the barrier and into the monster kingdom of the Underground. It sounds like a basic story, but how it is executed is anything but. I don't want to give too much away, but you will meet plenty of colorful and memorable characters throughout your journey who will terrify you, melt your heart, make you laugh, make you cry, and overall make you fall in love with the entire cast in general. There is not one main character in this game that you will get bored of or dislike, and that makes it so much harder if you travel down the... "quick and easy path", as Yoda calls it... Gameplay--Undertale plays like classic top-down JRPGs like Earthbound, and it is more than evident in the graphical design and humor used in the game that most of it was Earthbound-inspired. The combat is where the game truly shines, however, switching up the RPG formula to a Touhou-inspired bullet-hell shooter format to let you dodge enemy attacks. One would think this could get repetitive pretty easily, but Undertale manages to find a way to keep each new combat feeling fresh and interesting, even changing up the gameplay style for boss battles. Music--The music is just awesome! What more needs to be said??? You've probably heard it in a Youtube review somewhere and didn't know where it came from! Get this game NOW!!!
