Wizardry 8

One of my favorite older games

This one was on my top 10 list for years. No, it doesn't fully stand up to all of the modern titles, but it has some things that modern games don't. For example, the way the experience is split between your characters is great. This means if you fill every slot, everyone will level a lot slower. On the other extreme, if you solo, you rapidly level. The upshot is that the game is very different depending on not only what class combinations you go with, but also how many characters you go with. The world is vast, the challenge is great, and there is a ton to do and explore. I'd turn based and I personally like the way that your entire party is in the first-person perspective, so that it's as if you are in the party and can see the various spells, ranged attacks and melee attacks of your team from first person perspective. 5 stars at the time, I give it 4 stars with the aged graphics and insanely long playtime (therefore requiring grinding like most big games back then).

Eador: Genesis

Love this game!

If you love TBS games and have an old school mentality, Eador is fantastic. This game isn't pretty and it won't convert anyone to TBS due to the complexity of it; it also requires a lot of patience, but man does it pay off if you are the right sort! I think HOMM 3 finally has a rival. The campaign isn't my cup of tea, but the skirmishes are great fun!

Etherlords

Pretty fun

Pretty fun game. I like CCGs, so it's natrual I'd enjoy this game. It's tough, but that can be a good thing depending on taste. The main problem is that unlike most GOG games, this game seems to fully crash if I get any kind of dialog popping up (skype, etc.).. it also has Alt-tab disabled and doesn't seem to have a windowed mode. For the money I'll not exactly complain, but GOG ususually does amazingly well allowing games to run well under modern Windows 7 conditions, but this seems to be an exception that I have to set my computer up specially to get working.
