Wow! i still have this game on original Disc. I had totally forgotten about it. It was a very unique game at the time and well worth a look at this price. It feels like Wing commander underwater for the most part.
This is probably one of the funniest adventure games in some time. The graphics and sounds are wonderful and at 1440p this was just incredible to witness. Regardless how you play it this is amazing , quality adventuring done the old fashioned and good way.
This brought back such memories of what it used to be like to be a PC gamer. Before consoles came along and stole the show for the most part. This shooter has so many amazing elements such as a decent shop/upgrade system and amazing colours/smoothness and speed along with cool enemy patterns. If you love games like R-type you will love this game. Personally I like it better than R-type as it has a lot more depth. I would have gladly paid for this but as a gift from Gog this is awesome. There is more personality and talent gone into this game than a lot of so called AAA titles today. This really shows that Apogee were incredible. I just love the whole sprite look to this too as quite often outside indy this is a forgotten look today. Aside from a few exclusives on PS3 , I have pretty much dumped console gaming for good now as I just can't get into what people class as a decent game nowadays for the most part and games like this just install such good feelings again . Play it just for nostalgia but keep playing because it actually is a challenging and well put together shooter , which you just won't see in new games.
Forget COD and other boring clones around these days. This game offers up good old fashioned fun in spades. It is unforgiving though so don't play this if you have zero patience for dying. (Especially on harder skill levels) as there are no quicksaves at all. Basically die before a checkpoint and you go right back to the previous one. Graphics are so smooth and colourful . I tried running this on 2560x1440 just using a laptop with an external monitor and it was still smooth.
This game is kind of pretty but actually rather boring. Save your money as even on special you can get much better titles worth your dosh than this.
I actually had the original Pc game and lent it to someone and never got it back all those years ago. i do however still have the book , it is still in perfect condition as it was a hardcover. It is called "Stonekeep - Thera Awakening and is a brilliant read. speaking of old games i just found my longbow 2 game and manual and keyboard card, F22 Air Dominance manual and alies and adverseries book as well as Total Air War Manual. Mech warrior 2 manual and Grand Prix 2 manual lol. Quite a nice find :)
