Drova - Forsaken Kin

Below average RPG

The art style is nice, if unimaginative, and that is its only "high" point. The writing is generic and utterly boring. The quests are the same quests people have been making for 40 gd years. "Bring me 10 logs" "go get me 4 iron" Christ, what tedium. You don't even chop the trees yourself - you gather what is already chopped, which just seems insulting honestly. Most of the people you'll handle these quests for are unlikable and rude, or inoffensively bland at best. It feels like an adult game written by children. Experienced 7 crashes/freezes across 5 hours, generally when loading a save. The combat is its lowest point, poorly balanced and a slog of tedium. Very limited options in how you handle combat, and some of them are just outright trash. I honestly think Gothic 3 might have had better combat, and that is saying something. And then there's the pathing.. thousands of arbitrary dead ends means you spend far too much time running around senselessly. It's an extremely linear world made to appear open until you're actually trying to walk through it. Don't buy this game unless you're just a massive fan of what Gothic was. It's a servicable spiritual successor. The vein pulsing on my head urges me to give this one star, but it's still better than a lot of other games. 3Stars. Extremely average game.
